Abysmal world building

I would call it laughable, but I couldn't even find it amusing in how bad it was. It's flagrantly ripping off the setting of Ready Player One while mocking it and not getting what made it believable. It takes the irreverent nature so far as to wave away all the nonsensical rules and world building as being orders from the government agency literally called "the PLOT". Couldn't make it two hours in, I don't know who could enjoy this.

Every character is just so stupid

When the author promises "3d characters", I guess in their mind it just means characters who are so stupid that it beggars belief. At almost every intersection the main character makes the wrong choice but is rewarded for it, and when he finally makes a good one with his talent choice at level 5, the story stops dead so he and his companion can complain about what a bad choice it might have been.
There are some good bits. The System and the culture of the demons is unique, if not great, but this is just overall insufferable with stilted, awkward dialogue, horrible pacing, and an awful narrator.

First, Andrea is a delight as always. Adore her work. But the book itself is just painfully mediocre. It paints itself like it is going to be a huge comedy, maybe a parody of the tried and true Dungeon Core formula. But instead it becomes just a paint by the numbers version of that. We're baited with the idea that Florence won't understand how magic and the System works and will struggle for it. But her only point of contention is not liking the terms 'mana' and 'dungeon' and forcing her System to call it money and her home instead. Despite earnings that her just using cats will make her a weak dungeon, we don't see her struggle a single time(I have roughly 1.5 hours remaining at the time of writing this, so take that part with a grain of salt), and she keeps accidentally picking options that work together. Now, that could have also been funny, make her wildly over powered, a cat One Punch Man. But the book fails even there, and the one gimmick it has to help it stand out just... doesn't. Don't waste your time.

The book is... fine, on its own. It's nothing special, but I enjoyed it well enough. Feels pretty forced at times, and is basically all set up, but neat. Narrator needs to be replaced ASAP though.

Author seems to hate their own genre

Biggest issue out of the way first. This is, ostensibly, a LitRPG. Only not really, as the skills and ability to level barely impact the story. The largest impact they have, frankly, is on the protagonists complaining about how much they hate levels and skills, with Ryoka even somehow stopping herself from levelling at all. Now to the other main issue: the protagonists. Erin is the single most passive character I have ever encountered. Things just sort of happen to her, and she just sort of goes along with them, and they're not particularly interesting things either. Ryoka is somewhat better, but really only by comparison. And it's sad, cause the author paints a very interesting world, and is clearly talented. I just have no idea why this is the story they chose to write.

So, let's be clear, the main character is not a villain. He's a whiny misogynist and a very obvious self insert. He's never actually threatening, and everyone around him is so passive it's unbelievable. He threatens to rape and mutilate his partner and it's entirely glossed over, he regularly sexually harasses several women of the royal family and it gets treated as if it's charming, and he's constantly lauded as a revolutionary genius for literally nothing. And worst of all, he doesn't *do* anything. He goes on and on the entire time about getting his revenge, and never does, he never enacts any evil schemes, he's just a subpar businessman who gets catapulted into nobility for no reason. It's also abundantly clear the author hates dungeons core stories, so why did he write one?
On the narration end... I know Andrea Parsneau is a fantastic narrator. So why she chose not to be for this book boggles my mind. Most of the side characters are fine, but the main duo she gave *the* most grating and insufferable voices to. So for the entire run you are listening to what SNL thinks a nerd sounds like.
I couldn't finish this book, and I implore you not to start it.

Alex and the Coreverse are quickly becoming the leading power in the LitRPG genre, and they've already blown all other dungeon core stories out of the water. Sierra Kline isn't the most gifted narrator, but she does grow on you quickly, and brings a unique air to the System notifications. Highly recommended for all fans of the genre!

But Dinnaman's weakest work is still better than 90 percent of other books in the genre. Absolutely worth a read.

How did Gary get blackmailed into this?

Gary Furlong is one of the best narrators I've experienced, and he is behind wasted on this. The book fails in every regard. It doesn't have the weight, world building, or believability to be a good superhero book; it doesn't have detail or comparative power to be a good LitRPG(the main character being the only one who does have levels, we have no idea where he actually stands. Is 20 Strength peak human, or is he now the strongest person alive?); and the MC is so bad at sex it should be criminal negligence, so if fails as an erotica. There is no plot until the last three hours, and it is resolved in one chapter, as the MC defeats two of the strongest villains in the world by himself. The only person who could reasonably enjoy this book is the author himself, and he should be embarrassed for his tastes.

While Soundbooth Theatre's audio is exemplary as always, their knack for finding great stories to use it on seems to have abandoned them here. The writing, at least as much as I could power through, is reminiscent of middle schoolers who think they can be the next great author if they're just "funny" enough. The main character, honest to god, used the "oh totally... not!" unironically, to let you know the quality to expect.
