Historia
Catherine Corless could not have known where her interest in local history would lead her as she began researching the Tuam Mother and Baby Home in Galway in 2010. Uncovering no less than 796 missing burial records of children born there, the stark truth of their place of rest became clear: a disused sewage tank on the old home site, where two boys had once stumbled upon bones.

Sad past
Revisado: 04-07-25
Interesting- I love history- even when it’s hard to accept.
It’s very sad that in addition to all the horrible things these folks had to endure- their relationship with Jesus may well have been harmed because it was ‘the church’ that was responsible for. Fallen humans claiming to represent God and failing miserably.

Terry Thompson brings the book of Daniel to life with extensive research into the lives and customs of the Hebrew people, and he even opens up the discussion for the prophecies that have yet to be fulfilled. This book is a complement to an intensive study on Daniel and the God Who is still faithful to protect his people.

Horrible narration
Revisado: 08-03-23
I saw the warnings on other reviews- but I am one who can usually get past bad narration. Sadly I just couldn’t do it with this one.
Like others said- the narrator himself is probably great- but the theatrics they tried to incorporate were unbearable.
This book sounds so great- I might have to actually read it!

Yeah I was surprised by what DAYS these actually were- and it was awesome to have a new appreciation for a lesser known time of Joseph. I hope the author writes more!

On February 29, 1948, Richard Wurmbrand was arrested by the secret police. His crimes? Leading Christian worship and witnessing—both of which were illegal under the atheistic Communist regime of Romania. Richard spent fourteen years in prison. He was tortured, beaten, and locked into a solitary confinement cell. Sabina Wurmbrand spent three years in a labor camp, nearly freezing to death as she and other prisoners worked on the Danube Canal. She was repeatedly told her husband had died behind bars.

Inspiring, disturbing & life changing
Revisado: 07-06-23
I’d read part of this previously and decided to get through it all here on Audible.
Good narration.
Tough story to listen to. The depths of evil that manifests itself in humans is almost too much to bear- I can’t even imagine living it.
The grace that is exhibited through Richard and Sabina can only be accounted for by the Holy Spirit- and to that end this is all incredibly inspiring.
I wish people these days had a glimpse into what communism really is- they might appreciate the freedoms we enjoy here in the US a lot more.
Definitely recommend.

This is a re-imagining of the story of Elijah from the Bible...Elijah is a young prophet studying the Torah, when the soldiers of Queen Jezebel burn his school and massacre his teachers. He escapes, barely, but finds himself on the run and hunted....as Queen Jezebel attempts to stamp out the worship of the Hebrew God in Israel and replace it with the worship of Ba’al. As the queen’s soldiers close in on him, Elijah discovers a little known promise in the Scroll of Deuteronomy and prays for something impossible....

As long as you aren’t taking this as the word of God (that’s what The Bible is for) then this is AWESOME! I love Bible stories brought to life like this- I wish there were more of them!

Didn’t expect to like it
Revisado: 10-07-22
I only bought and listened to this to support Amir Tsarfati~ I love his Behold Israel ministry.
No spoilers~ but when the female model was introduced into the story I rolled my eyes and thought ‘why can’t they leave the stupid love interest OUT’ so I was very relieved that they didn’t indulge in that aspect of the story ~ it was just enough for good character development.
This was good especially for a ‘Christian’ book ~ sometimes they’re just a little too Halmark Channel. This was a pretty solid story, interesting insight into some of the issues ‘over there’ And I liked it enough to send to my daughter who is on a similar field as this female (no, not an international model) and she’s liked it as well.

Awful events
Revisado: 06-28-21
I only listened to this because I like true crime and this all happened in my neck of the woods- not THE woods but I know all the references. I remember the events.
That said, it was interesting but I had to skip some of the torture- it’s not that it was included in a gratuitous manner- just too much for me to listen to.

Historia
To his neighbors, Wayne Nance, a furniture mover from Missoula, Montana, appeared to be an affable, considerate, and trustworthy guy. No one knew that Nance was the "Missoula Mauler," a psychopath responsible for a series of sadistic sex slayings that rocked the idyllic town between 1974 and 1986. Nance's only requirement for murder was accessibility - a preacher's wife, a teenage runaway, a female acquaintance, a married couple. Putting on a friendly façade, he could easily gain his victims' trust. Then, one September night, thirty-year-old Nance pushed his luck.

Haunting
Revisado: 01-17-21
I had this in my library- don’t remember putting it there. Started it in the car one day because I’d finished another book. Really didn’t know what it was about.
I read a lot of true crime but I’d never heard of this case, and I refrained from looking it up. So each step of the way I didn’t know what was coming or what the ultimate outcome was going to be.
I’m so glad I ended up with this book. I don’t want to give spoilers- but after finishing it and then looking up the current status of everyone- well- obviously it’s just a sad story but I do recommend it!

Historia
On July 20, 2012 in Aurora, Colorado, a man in dark body armor and a gas mask entered a midnight premiere of The Dark Knight Rises with a tactical shotgun, a high-capacity assault rifle, and a sidearm. Soon twelve were dead and fifty-eight were wounded. A Dark Night in Aurora uses the twenty-three hours of unredacted interview transcripts never seen by the public and Reid’s research to bring the listener inside the mind of a mass murderer. The result is chilling, gripping study of abnormal psychology and how a lovely boy named Jimmy became a killer.
