Around the clock, across the country, these highly skilled and compassionate men and women sacrifice and struggle for us and our families. You have never heard their true stories. Not like this. From big-city and small-town hospitals. From behind the scenes. From the heart. This book will make you laugh, make you cry, make you understand.

False view of medical care
Revisado: 11-06-21
I was a ICU nurse for 10 years before I got a masters as. FNP. From there I went to med school and became a general surgeon. This story is ridiculous and unlike anything I experienced as an ICU nurse or surgeon. Nurses and Physicians work as a professional team. The nurse who went from different units is not factual. Each area requires special training. Nurses do not bounce from ER to ICU to floor. Each area is an unique area of expertise and requires training. I have nothing but respect for nurses but this story gives a false idea of competition between the members of highly trained staff…physicians, nurses, aids, ancillary staff such as respiratory staff. Not once have I seen a bunch of physicians in the ER together at the desk. Every ER I ever worked at was busy and we all worked as a team. I don’t know who you talked to James Patterson but this is bullshit and I didn’t make it thru the first chapter.

Historia
With courage, grace, and powerful insight, bestselling author Kristin Hannah captures the epic panorama of World War II and illuminates an intimate part of history seldom seen: the women's war. The Nightingale tells the stories of two sisters, separated by years and experience, by ideals, passion and circumstance, each embarking on her own dangerous path toward survival, love, and freedom in German-occupied, war-torn France—a heartbreakingly beautiful novel that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the durability of women. It is a novel for everyone, a novel for a lifetime.

One of the best stories I’ve ever read. I’ve read so many stories of WWII. My father in a B17 “The Uninvited” helped to free France and was there at DDay. This book describes what the ppl of France endured in a horrific war. It’s personal and heart wrenching. It makes history come alive. I highly recommend this story. The characters are real and alive.

Historia
It's 1910, and Daniel Pitt is a reluctant lawyer who would prefer to follow in the footsteps of his detective father. When the biographer Russell Graves, who Daniel is helping defend, is sentenced to execution for the murder of his wife, Daniel's Pitt-family investigative instincts kick in, and he sets out to find the real killer. With only 21 days before Graves is to be executed, Daniel learns that Graves is writing a biography of Victor Narraway, the former head of Special Branch and a close friend of the Pitts. And the stories don't shed a positive light. Is it possible someone is framing Graves to keep him from writing the biography-maybe even someone Daniel knows in Special Branch? The only answer, it seems, lies in the dead woman's corpse.

Brilliant new series

The Pitt saga lives on. Daniel Pitt is a delightful blend of lawyer and detective. His pairing with An experienced lawyer makes the story even more fascinating. I can’t wait to read the next book. I do hope Jemima, Thomas, Charlotte and the rest of this delightful family will be seen in future episodes. I shall miss Lady Vespasia. Bravo!

What did you love best about Friday on My Mind?
Twists and turns galore.
What did you like best about this story?
The psychological insight into human behavior. Frieda is maddening sometimes but always fascinating. All the characters are well defined. They are people I'd like to know.

Would you be willing to try another book from Jacqueline Winspear? Why or why not?
Yes. I'm hooked.
Have you listened to any of Orlagh Cassidy’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Usual excellence.
Any additional comments?
Dark and depressing, as is Maisie's life after the shattering of her dreams and hopes. Not a fun book to read but realistic of life and set against the horrific events leading to WWII. I continue to be amazed at the author's insight into human nature....both the good and the bad.

What did you love best about The Mapping of Love and Death?
Usual delightful blend of mystery, history and psychology. Maisie's character continues to grow especially in light of major changes in her life.
Any additional comments?
Deeply sorrowful over the passing of a beloved character. Looking forward to further development of Maisie's personal life. Anticipating the unfolding of the changes in Europe that led to WWII. No other series has captivated me in the way this one does since reading the Lord Peter Wimsey books.

So when Hardwick turns up dead, bashed on the head by a rather tasteless reproduction, it's Hetheridge and his new bride, Kate, who embark on solving the case
