Historia
Hillbilly Elegy is a passionate and personal analysis of a culture in crisis - that of white working-class Americans. The decline of this group, a demographic of our country that has been slowly disintegrating over 40 years, has been reported on with growing frequency and alarm but has never before been written about as searingly from the inside. J. D. Vance tells the true story of what a social, regional, and class decline feels like when you were born with it hung around your neck.

Honest and balanced
Revisado: 10-11-22
I began the book expecting a story, and I got one. The story is interwoven with musings about the meaning of the authors experiences, honest musings. He presents his family in an unbiased way, recording their flaws and strengths by his own memories, and wonders about the influences that led to the development of the situation he lived in. I loved it. Someone who is able to look at a problem and turn it over and see the other side is rare. Beautiful book.

Historia
In every hospital emergency department there is a room reserved for trauma. It is a place where life and death are separated by the thinnest of margins. A place where some families celebrate the most improbable of victories while others face the most devastating of losses. A place where what matters the most in this life is revealed. Trauma Room Two is just such a place. In this collection of short stories, Dr. Green takes the listener inside the hidden emotional landscape of emergency medicine.

ER nurse gives it two thumbs up
Revisado: 09-22-22
Surprising, authentic, and heartfelt. Cried more than a few times and we all know ER nurses are dead inside. 😂

Historia
Lily hasn’t always had it easy, but that’s never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She’s come a long way from the small town where she grew up—she graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. And when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything in Lily’s life seems too good to be true.

Rapey
Revisado: 09-05-22
My 15 year old had listened to this so I thought I would try it. No. Just don’t. Save yourself the wasted time.
I have not finished the story, and I won’t be listening any more.
The main character is an aspiring florist who is embarrassingly named Lily Blossom Bloom. She meets a handsome neurosurgeon on top of a roof after delivering a moment of silence instead of a eulogy for her abusive father. This surgeon immediately begins verbally requesting sexual contact because “you don’t know what you do to me” type of line, and on several occasions physically intimidates or overpowers her, but relents before actually raping her. Disgusting writing by a woman.

ER nurse
Revisado: 07-10-22
A lot of these stories are perfect but a lot seem over-sweetened. I know people like feel good stories, but as an ER nurse I like to read real ones. Enjoyed!
