Please, stay lost!
Revisado: 12-03-24
I loved the premise, but the characters were so despicable that I couldn’t care about what happened. With three hours left, I gave up. This book felt like getting a rough dental cleaning. It was a chore. So many reviews warned that the ending just wasn’t worth it. The narrator had too many people to form different voices for so they all ran together. I don’t know what happened to the remaining survivors, but they deserve to stay lost on that fake colony.

Had To Return
Revisado: 06-20-24
I never leave negative feedback but this was just too much. The main character is flaky and childish. Her grandma is rude and just as flaky. It’s a shame. I was really hoping to find a series like the Southern Sisters Mysteries by Anne George. Familiar. Charming. I wish I had believed the other readers who felt the same. 13 minutes in, and I asked for a refund.

Disappointing overall
Revisado: 08-08-23
I don’t usually post negative reviews but this was as many other people claimed - dark. I, too, wish I hadn’t read the prologue. I kept expecting a twist but sadly no, the very people I suspected of being bad were just that. The story being built upon a series of tunnels under a neighborhood (real place) helped create a mood and I applaud that. The rest was just “meh”.

Historia
With Chicago winters in the rearview mirror, Chloe Jackson is making good on a promise: helping her late friend’s grandmother run the Sea Glass Saloon in the Florida Panhandle. To Chloe’s surprise, feisty Vivi Slidell isn’t the frail retiree Chloe expects - nor is Emerald Cove. It’s less a sleepy fishing village than a panhandle hot spot overrun with land developers and tourists. But it’s a Sea Glass regular who’s mysteriously crossed the cranky Vivi. When their bitter argument comes to a head and he’s found dead behind the bar, guess who’s the number one suspect?

Generally, a decent story…
Revisado: 02-23-23
Overall, I felt this was a decent story about friends, family, and life. Definitely not a horror story and no mystery to solve. Similar to Stand By Me. While I wasn’t riveted, it’s a story that I’m sure I’ll listen to again.

Great story, but the narrator...
Revisado: 03-31-16
Fascinating story, yet it was difficult to get past the narrator. Her style is almost identical to my GPS tone - quite mechanical and intense. Too intense from the beginning. The only time she changes tone is when she changes accents. Worth the effort to continue, however. Don't let her voice stop you from purchasing :)

Just so-so...
Revisado: 09-09-12
I don't know why the narrator chose to make Billy a screechy mess by the last third of this story, but she sure did. There was little change in most of the narration of details, which made it hard to follow at times. Maisie never really had any life to her voice throughout the entire reading, which was sort of depressing. However, I still found this entertaining as the story was interesting and kept me guessing. Just not as entertaining as the first novel in the series. I say go ahead and purchase this, but don't expect it to be your favorite.

Agreed...Too much going on...
Revisado: 12-08-11
I don't know what's worse - how Claire discusses coffee info at all the wrong moments or how there were too many things going on for me to care about. Claire's passion for properly made coffee is more like preaching, and some of the themes in this book were just weird instead of edgy. Save your credit. I couldn't get but two-thirds of the way through it before I gave up.
