Whatever words you choose to use, every unique story from the voices of Christians who aren't interested in a heteronormative marriage is valuable and worthy of being heard.
This one is especially useful, since it comes from someone who wasn't raised in the church, and David Bennett shows us in beautiful fashion how big and difficult is the process of dying to self in order to live for Jesus.

Lisa Larsen reads this book like she is trying to impersonate Alexa's text-to-speech engine, except she also mispronounces or obviously misreads words all over the place.

Once you get past the monotone, the content of this book is easily within the top 3 most important messages the Church needs to hear today. Rivera has done her homework and she knows her audience. Context and definitions are placed perfectly to get ahead of assumptions without sounding patronizing, and each point is accompanied by a real person's experience to humanize the conversation.

I've already ordered physical copies for a couple of my mentors, and I'm making a list of other people to share this book with!

Cute story with some predictable turns, but one that reads like a fable in the best way possible! Rath is prickly on the outside with a gooey sweet center that he tries and fails to hide at every turn. He believes that no good deed goes unpunished, but he does them anyway, and (eventually) is rewarded for his heart of gold.

Narrator and audio quality leaves much to be desired. There is occasional background noise or buzzing in the recording, and the narrator frequently mispronounces words, including inconsistent pronunciation of the two main characters' names.

There are only two things wrong with the book, and they are the cliffhanger at the end and the fact that the next one isn't ready for me to read yet.

The book has kind of a slow start, but it stays interesting, and once the action picks up it's pretty well done.

For some reason, the sound design includes a leitmotif around all of the Christian characters that is a soft piano arrangement of Princess Leia's Theme from Star Wars. It's pretty, and it's not too distracting, but it took me most of the first book to put my finger on why it was so familiar 😂

There is a creative adventure through a fantasy world that features some fun RPG mechanics exploits hiding in here.
But about 60% of the words in this book are about urine, feces, vomit, misogyny, rape, alcoholism, or some combination of all of the above.

A decent enough story, but not sure it's comedy

The characters are on the flat side, and every major reveal was telegraphed so far in advance that there were no surprise twists. What was marketed as Comedy (and for some reason has the narrator in stitches during the outtake reel [also, there is a narrator outtake reel]) turned out to be a continuous string of oddball word choices that reminded me of a group of middle school boys discovering innuendo for the first time.

For all of that, the concept is solid, and I enjoyed the story and the more cynical take on superheroes. It's a fun listen, and I think Hutchison has aspirations of imitating Scott Meyer once he gets his writing feet under him - which is a respectable goal.

In a few places the plot takes a hit to make room for a meta joke, but the story is engaging, the characters are delightful, and the performance is spectacular! Definitely keeping this one handy for days when I need a good belly laugh.

Nothing in the description indicates this book contains graphic descriptions of sex, and it shows up in recommendations next to standard sci-fi/fantasy titles appropriate for broader audiences.

Cipriano needs to spend some time in therapy or jail or both until he can manage to introduce a female character as a person and not an interesting new sex toy. Even as his main character struggles with the moral implications of messing with women's minds to get laid, he never once shows any interest in a woman beyond wondering whether her consent is voluntary.

If you're into trashy romance, do yourself a favor and go find an author who at least occasionally remembers that humans have feelings. If you're not into trashy romance and either the fantasy genre or the narrator brought you here, you'd do well to just move along.

Jeff Hayes seems to have a versatile repertoire of voices, and his diction and inflection are clear and soothing to listen to. But his natural drawl, when not in a character's voice, is absolutely wrong for this story. The transition from Lee's conversations to his internal monologue feels like the listener is being wrenched 2000 miles from New York to Texas and back every other sentence. Set this guy reading cowboy stories, or put that smooth, reassuring tone into the inspirational or self-help section... somewhere where half of the chapters don't end distractingly with the word "cookin' "
