Historia
When we first meet 14-year-old Susie Salmon, she is already in heaven. In the sweet, untroubled voice of a precocious teenage girl, Susie relates the awful events of her death and her own adjustment to the strange new place where she finds herself. With love, longing, and a growing understanding, Susie watches her family as they cope with their grief. This story of seemingly unbearable tragedy is transformed into a suspenseful and touching narrative about family, memory, love, heaven, and living.

Terrible story.
Revisado: 05-26-23
Just horrible. The dead teen that was abducted and sexually abused comes back and enters her friends body in order to have sex with a boy she knew while alive. This ruined the entire book. It also did not focus enough on how evil her murderer was! Also, the grandma bragging about being kissed by a man the age of her father and her fathers friend like it was normal. This book is so wrong

Critical thinking is regularly cited as an essential 21st century skill, the key to success in school and work. Given our propensity to believe fake news, draw incorrect conclusions, and make decisions based on emotion rather than reason, it might even be said that critical thinking is vital to the survival of a democratic society. But what, exactly, is critical thinking? Haber describes the term's origins in such disciplines as philosophy, psychology, and science.

Historia
Les Misérables is set in Paris after the French Revolution. In the sewers and backstreets, we encounter "the wolf-like tread of crime", and assassination for a few sous is all in a day's work. We weep with the unlucky and heart-broken Fantine, and we exult with the heroic revolutionaries of the barricades; but above all we thrill to the steadfast courage and nobility of soul of ex-convict Jean Valjean, always in danger from the relentless pursuit of the diabolical Inspector Javert.

Sad that Scientology is allowed to abuse children.
Revisado: 03-22-13
This book is the story of a child born into Scientology. She had no freedom to even
think for herself. I am so glad she got out alive.
David Miscavige's wife has been missing for years and no one is looking for her.
Why?
Scientology is classified at or near the top of harmful cults. They take all your money, Noting is free with them. They charge for the "help", which is really brainwashing.
If you have no money they put you in the sea org. to work as a slave.
People who speak out against them are in danger of being sued and followed for
years. They have a history of being a mind control cult. They force secrets out of you to use as blackmail if you try to escape.
Please also read. "A Peace of Blue Sky." by Atack. I is not an audio book yet but I hope audible will consider it. A Peace of Blue Sky is available at amazon as a kindle e-book.
The abuse from this "religion" started from the beginning with Ron L. Hubbard.
Some think is is only the current leadership.
It is much deeper than that.
By the way. I am not a Scientologist and have never visited any of their "churches"
I am just a mom, nurse and concerned citizen who is trying to educate myself
about abuses going on in our country.
We should demand the Scientology be held accountable for the evil it is brought on
innocent people.

A definitive, deeply moving narrative, Bonhoeffer is a story of moral courage in the face of the monstrous evil that was Nazism. After discovering the fire of true faith in a Harlem church, Bonhoeffer returned to Germany and became one of the first to speak out against Hitler. As a double agent, he joined the plot to assassinate the Führer and was hanged in Flossenbürg concentration camp at age thirty-nine. Since his death, Bonhoeffer has grown to be one of the most fascinating, complex figures of the twentieth century.

Saving the helpless
Revisado: 03-22-13
Bonhoeffer is an example of what it means to be a Christian. He stood for the helpless
even at the cost of his own life.
This is an example of someone who did not have to risk his life but did.
He was not on Hitler's "hit list" until he began to assist the Jews.
Bonhoeffer will always be remember as a great man while
Hitler is known as a murderous coward.
This book should be read by all who want to change the world for better.
I hope I could be this courageous if faced with evil as he was.
Malcolm did a great job narrating.

Historia
Smallpox, the only infectious disease to have been eradicated, was one of the most terrifying of human scourges. It covered the skin with hideous, painful boils, killed a third of its victims, and left the survivors disfigured for life. In this riveting, often terrifying look at the history of smallpox, Jonathan B. Tucker tells the story of this deadly disease, the heroic efforts to eradicate it worldwide, and the looming dangers it still poses today.

Very informative
Revisado: 04-19-12
Would you consider the audio edition of Scourge to be better than the print version?
I did not read the print version. I prefer audio because I can clean my house and "read"a great informative book at the same time. I can also drive and "read" too.
What did you like best about this story?
The way it was presented was both informative and entertaining. It kept my attention and I hated when it was over.
Have you listened to any of Patrick Cullen’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No, but I think he did a fine job on Scourge.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
The Maker of Tears
Any additional comments?
I am a nurse and love books about health related issues.

Historia
He wasn't born with the name Maniac Magee. He came into this world named Jeffrey Lionel Magee, but when his parents died and his life changed, so did his name. And Maniac Magee became a legend. Even today kids talk about how fast he could run; about how he hit an inside-the-park "frog" homer; about how no knot, no matter how snarled, would stay that way once he began to untie it. But the thing Maniac Magee is best known for is what he did for the kids from the East Side and those from the West Side.

Maniac Magee is a great book
Revisado: 09-15-11
My child had to read this for school. We as a family thought it would be good to listen to it together as he read along with the book. I am so glad we did. The story is about compassion for people no matter the
color or station in life. It is about love. One of the best books I have read.
Even my husband loved it. We were all in tears at the end of the book.
The narrator is the best. She did each voice perfectly. She was especially good with the children's voices.
I hope audible will ask Merkerson to read more children's books and I do believe she is gifted reader.
Even my son was taken aback by how well she read.
