Arrogance Mixed with Exceptional Entertainment

Will Packer arrogantly entertained me with meaningful storytelling elements throughout this book. The overall production is filled with amazing sound effects and the guest narrators added more layers of fun to this audio book. Some of the stories seemed to lean toward hyperbole but it was so entertaining, I didn't really care whether or not he used some exaggeration to curate the stories. If you need to laugh, pick this book.

Forced Myself to Finish

I found this story a bit exhausting and I did not care at all about any of the characters BUT I kept hoping for more. I stopped twice to read/listen two other books. Unfortunately, I read None of This is True by the same author PRIOR TO THIS ONE AND LOVED IT! Oh well!

Storyline Leaves Us Wanting More

Loved the performance, characters, and learning more about the history of Harlem. The theme of the book reflects predestined soulmates, which excludes most of us from relating to or fantasizing the experiences of the characters in their soulful love experiences. The characters take over the story even as it is told through 3rd person POV. Narrators are outstanding!

Never a Dull Moment

Excellent narrator and storytelling. I enjoyed how the author captured the perspectives of each of the characters. Although this is a true crime story, it made use of numerous fictional literary devices. I enjoyed how the author took great care to make the subjects/characters relatable until they became obtuse. Engaging all throughout the book.!

Exhilarating!

I took a chance by selecting this title as a "step out of my comfort zone" opportunity. I discovered an exhilarating blend of the arts, history, and storytelling! Although it is only 90 minutes long, Ma tickled my curiosity to learn more of the people and places he shared for the next several weeks. I REALLY ENJOYED this production!

Beautifully written and culturally relevant. This "new to me" author masterfully wove so many meaningful threads throughout the story. All of the vivid characters made were relatable and easy to visualize. Tia Williams carefully marinaded each detail before showcasing them to her attentive audience!
