I loved the detail and the history and science that I want to dig more into.

What I didn’t love was the repetitive get captured escape, get ahead, get captured, escape chase non stop it got old after the second time. By third I was done on the 4th I was rolling my eyes.

Yeah well I should have known

After reading and listening to the Killers series, the beginning of the Agents series and Blackburn, I really should have known. I kept waffling the description wasn’t as intriguing. I wasn’t sure I would really like it as much. Two chapters… two. That is all it took. I was hooked and finished it in Two days… two work days I might add where I can’t just listen all day. Off to get the next one.

I liked the story and concept. I am all for strong and independent women. However there is strong and independent and there is just idiotic. And getting pissed off when your police boyfriend doesn’t reveal details to you about a case… yeah idiotic. And then there is stupidity at least she admits at one point to being stupid with her actions but I honestly can’t see any person with a lick of common sense doing some of those things.

Different retelling of Beauty and the beast with fae?

I don’t know I couldn’t finish it. Which is saying a lot. I usually force myself to finish especially ones I paid money for.

This kept popping up on list after list. Ebook, audio book, physical book as something I would like based on my other reads so I gave it a go. Surely if it kept coming up it meant I would enjoy it. Wrong.

Maybe it was the narration which grated my nerves but I pushed past that and adjusted. Then it was just so slow and detailed and BORING. OMG BORING. I wanted to scream do something already with the story. Hours in and the best I can tell you it’s a Fae version of beauty and the beast.

Well it is my favorite fairytale but no, just no. I can’t even. If you are going to blend the two at least make it interesting and exciting not omg claw my eyes out I am bored and this is while I do other things AND listen.

I tried. I wanted to like it. I really did I got a couple hours into it and just could not keep going. Since I can’t return it I may pick it up again later and try more just to finish it. But right now I just can’t. It’s not good enough it’s drawn out boring with over packed details and little movement to the story itself.

I want to stand up and applaud this is so we’ll written and told. I vaguely knew the story but not fully not really so I went looking for a book to tell it. I could not have asked for a better book both to tell the story of the tragedy and to honor the courage and lives of those who lived and died through it.
