Historia
The Nextel Conundrum: Originally established as a convenient communication solution for small businesses, Nextel swiftly expanded its services to include cellular telephony. However, the positioning of Nextel within the RF spectrum, sandwiched besides public safety frequencies, combined with its network built for capacity, led to unprecedented challenges. The dense clustering of Nextel sites interfered with public safety radios, prompting the necessity for rebanding. Rebanding entailed a complex realignment of frequencies to mitigate interference issues. This intricate shuffle ...

Fantastic, very thought provoking
Revisado: 11-02-23
A nice view into the culture of “ old school medicine “ with hard history, and pleasing anecdotal accounts of the large “ public hospitals “ that are long gone and the days when your office visits lasted longer than 6 & 1/2 minutes or less. Slightly arrogant and quite critical in the last chapter, but still a fantastic read. Reminds me of an evening at the dinner table circa 1970(ish) as my Dad was informing my Mom about this new thing at his firm called blue shield & blue cross that would pay hospital or Dr. bills instead of just paying cash. This was a benchmark moment as I spent a great portion of my last half of my career working on HR, recruitment, and benefits administration for new hires. I grew up understanding of the value of a best available quality healthcare benefit program.
I strongly recommend this high quality audio book to anyone who has seen a Medical Doctor or visited a large hospital complex. I spent ten years of my career specializing in hospital law enforcement at a large urban state psychiatric/surgical hospital in Raleigh NC. The idea of a huge public “ campus “ equal to a small city or university setting and the demise of it from 650 psych beds in the state capitol city being replaced with a 300 bed new hospital in rural Granville County NC. The math and ethics didn’t work then for me as the elimination of 300 + Psych beds equaled a quick turnaround treat and street plan discharging homeless with money for one ride on the city bus. Life changes and progress occurs in a three steps forward and two steps back in my experience with State and local government operations. I hope those who lost jobs or lost inpatient treatment options in their home state for devastating mental health conditions have survived the transition well. I did see many former long term patients become “ professionally homeless “ residents of the State Government Complex in downtown Raleigh and working the exit ramps of I-440.
Again, a great thought provoking audiobook.

This was the cause of another listening until daylight event from Audible. It’s the gold standard for people who have never worked a graveyard shift to get a taste of what goes bang in the night in a city near you.

Ken Falke, a man who hands out life.
Revisado: 04-19-21
I was in Ken Falke,s company less than 24 hours. I can say with confidence and pride " I know him " he is genuinely and openly vunerable. time spent listening to his mindset is at face value the huge value. I pulled over a mile from Boldercrest, downloaded this combat/disaster master's bible. officer survival is so much more than your daughter knowing what the sound of Velcro ripping at six AM Saturday morning means and don't get murdered at work tonight.
any ass kicker with hail damage will end their search for " PTSD HELP "
I'm preparing for a future of new service missions, with a new team.
thank you,
YOU ARE A GREAT MAN.

Historia
In 1958, the US Air Force nuked the moon as a show of military force. In 1967, the CIA sent live cats to spy on the Soviet government. In 1942, the British built a torpedo-proof aircraft carrier out of an iceberg. Of course, none of these things ever actually happened. But in Nuking the Moon, intelligence historian Vince Houghton proves that abandoned plans can be just as illuminating - and every bit as entertaining - as the ones that made it.

A personal delivery of plan B,C,D,-Z
Revisado: 02-26-21
I enjoyed the author's passionate and personal delivery of dry boring facts and dates. He brings content to the reader uniquely. like a guest from the neighborhood over for family dinner being asked " So Vince, tell us about the new book on the government making cats into atom bombs "? And he lets loose with excitement and energy. The author delivers his personal account of his research. I push this issue to potential readers to contrast the reviews that are harshly critical of the author's personal bias, agenda, and telling his story his way. I see the author's delivery as genuine and true to his printed word. I'm a well read cold war history buff and enjoyed listening to him expand on and introduce me to many operations of interest. It helps the $ 20,000 toilet plunger the Pentagon has a line item for make sense. I highly recommend this author's work and will follow him for his next edition. I was very close to skiping this read based on reviews critical of the author's passion for declassified techno-spook stuff that almost was attempted. I offer an A+ job well done.

100% Out of the box for my stereotype.
Revisado: 12-11-20
I won’t review a publication unless it pisses me off or blows me away. I’m not fair or balanced. I represent the over weight light skinned white people who don’t tan. It’s a vicious circle of burn, blister, peel and my faded newspaper completion won’t budge. Also, I’m a lifelong student of mankind, stupid mistakes and do overs ( usually mine ) until I run out of birthdays! With my disclaimer of being demographically uncool posted here is my review.
While not sleeping and wanting background “ noise “ with no possibility of Alexa delivering Justin Beeber music I selected the first selection that fit the timeframe of a laptop project I was working on. My choice was an absolute shot in the dark. The immediate urban black NYC theater acoustical vibe* peaked my curiosity and positively put me someplace away from my huge health, legal, financial, problems. I stepped out of my flaming life to visit an experience in “ The City “ of my youth as I relocated in the late 80s to rural NC. I was amused as I truly enjoyed the mesh of poetry, story and music. The lead was a gifted and courageous tour guide who shared how he navigated fear, faith, abandonment, redemption and reassembled his soul with energy and intention. My tour guide is obviously accomplished although I had never heard of him. I experienced a mental hiccup when he drizzled some Chappel Sauce into the meal. That validated talent for me. Every man has a story, but this genius delivery system of entertainment put mileage on my brain and was well worth the ride! His message is served in layers. Take a good song, then toss an action hero movie on the entertainment sandwich. Lookout it’s like The playoffs snuck up on us! I felt attacked like an old school hockey game I wanted to throw my popcorn and scream foul words at the ref for a bad call. I’m all fairness to readers of my review I am an emotionally intense person and this program caught me hook line & sinker. I was on the edge of my seat wanting to hear the Red, White, and Blue apple pie & Chevrolet good guy saves the day, everyone is a winner, popular and gets a trophy and money for showing up kinda happy ending story. I feared tragedy, heartbreak, and pain would take the day. I have never so badly wanted to share my wonderful experience of losing my 81 year old father to pancreatic cancer in 120 days. I will end with no spoiler. I will be thinking of this audio program For weeks Bitches ! Hey, he opened for Chappel......... I get a pass!

Slow start but I was addicted!
Revisado: 12-07-20
As a young teen I did manufacture a “ box” from a clandestine recipe and about three bucks spent at the old “ Radio Shack “ that sold Radios ! Let’s say the Anarchists cookbook and steal this book were well read over 7th grade requirements. Big Bell was punched in the stomach by a kid who inserted a trouble signal on “ the line “ and a person to person call is costly from prep school on CT to Long Island! I lived parts of this as a rebellious ethically challenged teenager. The office staff of St. Thomas Moore School spring-boarded my genius as they cashed $ 3.85 checks piles of them. The price of a refund. Forgive me father, it’s been .,,,,,,,, lol.
Please provide episode two.
