Historia
In June, 1954, eighteen-year-old Emmett Watson is driven home to Nebraska by the warden of the juvenile work farm where he has just served fifteen months for involuntary manslaughter. His mother long gone, his father recently deceased, and the family farm foreclosed upon by the bank, Emmett's intention is to pick up his eight-year-old brother, Billy, and head to California where they can start their lives anew. But when the warden drives away, Emmett discovers that two friends from the work farm have hidden themselves in the trunk of the warden's car.

This is not Kerouac
Revisado: 10-19-21
The first few chapters might lead a reader to imply the story would have some basis in reality. Far from it. So if you plan to stick with this story; be prepared to suspend reality. The characters are distinct, the journey is zany. Not a whole lot of time on the Lincoln Highway.

Historia
Denied citizenship by the Roman Empire, a soldier named Alaric changed history by unleashing a surprise attack on the capital city of an unjust empire. Stigmatized and relegated to the margins of Roman society, the Goths were violent "barbarians" who destroyed "civilization," at least in the conventional story of Rome's collapse. But a slight shift of perspective brings their history, and ours, shockingly alive.

The fall of Rome-The rest of the story
Revisado: 08-29-20
The author does an amazing job of reconstructing the career of Aleric the Goth; who was a Roman General. Spoiler alert: As a Goth, he was not given Roman citizenship and was even slighted on pay for himself and his troops. While such abuse makes the case for why Aleric sacked Rome in 410 AD, and perhaps similar treatment led the Vandals to trash Rome again shortly after, I for one, was left wondering exactly how these two attacks had such a longstanding catastrophic effect on world civilization.

Historia
Five thousand years ago, the Kinley built a ship capable of traveling faster than light. It carried a group of scientists to a small, distant planet - a primitive place called Earth. Its mission was peaceful observation. But when the ship was destroyed, the Kinley crew found themselves stranded in ancient Egypt, participants in the pageant of life in the time of the Pharaohs. They buried remnants of their technology deep beneath the desert and sent a last desperate message home…. Five thousand years later, the Kinley homeworld hovers on the brink of extinction.

Speculative Fiction, Is the improbable...probable?
Revisado: 11-19-12
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
Yes, with caveats. There are some amazing flights of fancy here. A reader will only get into this story if they are very willing to suspend disbelief. Once that hurdle is passed, it is quite a ride. Its the whole spacemen helped the Egyptians build the Pyramids thing, a subject that I find compelling. However, getting back to that suspend disbelief thing, characters in this book are not only capable of living in suspended animation for 5,000 years, but an implanted tracer bug also works for that extended 5,000 year period. When you think about it; Wow, wow, wow. I should also mention, guys, that this book could be categorized as chick-lit
What was one of the most memorable moments of Resurrection?
Making granite out of chemistry set chemicals, The captain and his wife becoming Egyptian gods.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
I think the narrator did a superb job.
Did Resurrection inspire you to do anything?
No, just basically rewrite my view of history from 5000 BC forward.
Any additional comments?
The Mechanic is probably the most irredeemably bad meanie who ever graced a page of fiction.
