Historia
Cassie was never able to experience the life that many take for granted, the freedom to dictate her own journey. No, her life had been spent sheltered, protected from an inevitable fate that would come for her regardless of what anyone could do. After her medical condition goes downhill, she is left with a few years of breath in her lungs and a choice: die alone, without ever experiencing what it truly means to feel alive and free; or to find that light, that missing puzzle piece, that feeling of not feeling so alone in her final days.

When Temple Grandin was born, her parents knew that she was different. It wasn’t until years later that she was diagnosed with autism, a brain disorder that makes communication difficult. Today, Dr. Temple Grandin is a scientist and professor of animal science at Colorado State University. Her career has revolutionized the livestock industry - each year, half the cattle in the United States are handled in cruelty-free facilities she designed. She is also a passionate advocate for autism, using her experience to prove that people with this disorder can have “normal” lives.

The question of "why" is often asked when the name of Hitler is heard. People watch documentaries on television that show what he did and when, but they never explain why. This new audiobook explores Hitler's motivations and the needs of the people of Germany that catapulted Hitler to power. You can finally understand why the people of Germany would follow Hitler, not because they were forced to, but because they wanted to. You will also discover what drove Hitler so passionately and why he truly believed he was saving the world.

Revisado: 12-03-15
First, it's really short. Like an hour or so. Second it's like "Hitler for Dummies" written by a Nazi Apologist. And finally, it's has distracting background battle sounds throughout. Probably shouldn't bother.

In Depth and Pretty Detailed History
Revisado: 10-26-15
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Only if they were interested in the Norman Conquest or a serious Anglophile.
What about Frazer Douglas’s performance did you like?
It was pretty good, but he did a little over acting when pretending to be someone other than the narrator.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No freaking way. Way too detailed to absorb all at once.
Any additional comments?
Great book with reasonable narration if you are into English history about the Norman Conquest. If not, it would be drab, dry and tedious.

Historia
U.S. Army Captain Kimberly N. Hampton was living her dream: flying armed helicopters in combat and commanding D Troop, 1st Squadron, 17th Cavalry, the armed reconnaissance aviation squadron of the 82nd Airborne Division. On January 2, 2004, Captain Hampton was flying an OH-58D Kiowa Warrior helicopter above Fallujah, Iraq, in support of a raid on an illicit weapons marketplace, searching for an illusive sniper on the rooftops of the city. A little past noon her helicopter was wracked by an explosion....

Most Moving Story I Have Read in 20 Years
Revisado: 10-07-15
Would you consider the audio edition of Kimberly's Flight to be better than the print version?
Probably not, but don't let that stop you. The only knock on this is the narration, but the story is so good, it makes no difference. The narration is not horrible, just a little wooden.
What did you like best about this story?
The individual details and in-depth sharing of her life.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
The Real Life Story of An American Soldier Who Gave it All
Any additional comments?
I can't put into words why this was so good. I think it has to do with the reality of it. Just give it a listen and if you can turn it off I would be amazed.

Historia
Wendy Lower's stunning account of the role of German women on the Eastern Front - not only as plunderers and direct witnesses, but as actual killers - powerfully revises history. Many young nurses, teachers, secretaries, and wives saw the emerging Nazi empire as a kind of "Wild East" of opportunity, yet they could not have imagined what they would do there. Hitler's Furies will challenge our deepest beliefs using evidence hidden for seventy years: Women can be just as brutal as men.

Dismal, Dismal, Dismal.
Revisado: 09-08-15
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
Maybe a bright spot or a decent human at least once in a while.
What could Wendy Lower have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
It was just hours of wretched descriptions of horrible human beings. And rather dry at that.
Would you be willing to try another one of Suzanne Toren’s performances?
NOPE.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
Seemed a fairly accurate description of some very interesting psychological studies.
Any additional comments?
I know there are some hard truths in this book and I appreciated them, but damn, you can't listen to it for hours straight without wanting to pull out your fingernails. The narrator was as horrible as the subject matter; dry, depressing and just plain sad. No thanks.

Historia
On the first Sunday in December 1941, an armada of Japanese warplanes appeared suddenly over Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, and devastated the U.S. Pacific Fleet. Six months later, in a sea fight north of the tiny atoll of Midway, four Japanese aircraft carriers were sent into the abyss. Pacific Crucible tells the epic tale of these first searing months of the Pacific war, when the U.S. Navy shook off the worst defeat in American military history and seized the strategic initiative.

Super, Super and Well Read
Revisado: 07-22-15
Would you listen to Pacific Crucible: War at Sea in the Pacific, 1941-1942 again? Why?
Yup. Because the narrator did a great job (as did the author of course) of reading like he cared about the content. He even sounds a bit (not too much) like a newsreel reader of the period.
Any additional comments?
This is very complex subject matter and the author did a great job of being detailed but keeping the overall picture in sight. Lots of nice, nuanced points and facts woven in for good measure.

Historia
Our future is written by hopes, fears, dreams, expectations, and decisions made about life. In the same way, organizations have futures written by history, circumstances, culture, aspirations, successes, and failures. These already-written futures determine and shape the level of performance that's possible for individuals and organizations. Authors Steve Zaffron and Dave Logan crack the code on rewriting the future for people and organizations, elevating performance to unprecedented levels.

Meh, Wordy, Overthought - a few Good Thoughts
Revisado: 07-22-15
Is there anything you would change about this book?
Made it more readable. Very Herky-Jerky both with it's timeline and thought process. It would have been nice, for example, if they had clearly stated the 3 laws; they NEVER did, not once. I was always loosely described in a sentence and differently each time.
Would you recommend The Three Laws of Performance to your friends? Why or why not?
Maybe, if I thought they weren't in touch with reality.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
Loosened up. Very rigid, sounds like he's reading it for the first time. I have this problem with a lot of Audible Narrators. You wouldn't think it'd be that hard to get someone to just read a book nice and evenly.
Could you see The Three Laws of Performance being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
Dear god, no, unless they were trying to anesthetize the audience.

Historia
Between April and July 1944, Truman Smith flew 35 bombing missions over France and Germany. He was only 20 years old. Although barely adults, Smith and his peers worried about cramming a lifetime's worth of experience into every free night, each knowing he probably would not survive the next bombing mission. Written with blunt honesty, wry humor, and insight, The Wrong Stuff is Smith's gripping memoir of that time.

Great 1st Person Humor and Likability
Revisado: 07-22-15
Would you consider the audio edition of The Wrong Stuff to be better than the print version?
Probably not as the narration was the only thing holding this one back.
What did you like best about this story?
That it came from a 'regular guy' aviator, that is, he was a co-pilot on a bomber, not a fighter jock of whom much has been written.
What do you think the narrator could have done better?
Not spoken with his North East US dialect, not pronouncing 'r's and overacting. A 'straight' read would have been miles better.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No, but it did carry along at a good pace and I was wanting more when it was done, despite the narration.
Any additional comments?
The Narrator is stilted and corny but not unlistenable. The story is good enough that the narrator doesn't destroy it but I'd rather read the hard copy myself.

Between December 16, 1944 and January 15, 1945, American forces found themselves entrenched in the heavily forested Ardennes region of Belgium, France, and Luxembourg defending against an advancing German army amid freezing temperatures, deep snow, and dense fog. Operation Herbstnebel - Autumn Mist - was a massive German counter-offensive that stunned the Allies in its scope and intensity.

Worst. Narration. EVER.
Revisado: 07-13-15
If you could sum up Snow & Steel in three words, what would they be?
Great Book, Crap Narration. Oh, wait, that's 4...
What other book might you compare Snow & Steel to and why?
I don't know because I couldn't make it through the first 15 minutes of the narration that made me want to pull my eyelids off with Channel-Lock pliers.
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Paul Boehmer and Tim Reynolds ?
Anybody, dear god, literally ANYBODY else but the man who did the narration.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The book seemed like it might have been awesome but I. Couldn't. Get. Past. The. William. Shatner. Narration. For. Whom. English. Was. Not. A. First. Language.
Any additional comments?
Literally spent 30 minutes on the phone with customer service to make them add this BACK to my queue so I could leave this review because you can't leave reviews on books you don't own!?!?!? WTF. This was SO BAD a narration that I felt a public DUTY to make sure that this guy NEVER narrates another English language book in this or any other lifetime.
