You don't have to have watched Princess Bride to enjoy
Revisado: 07-02-15
I still haven't, though it's on my to watch list now. Cary Elwes is a wonderful story teller with a gift for imitating his co-stars (Rob Reiner and Andre the Giant are two of his best!) The majority of the cast share their memories of making the film and its impact on them: Billy Crystal, Rob Reiner, Robin Wright, Christopher Guest. Just a wonderful story, well performed from start to finish.

Historia
Bernadette Fox is notorious. To her Microsoft-guru husband, she's a fearlessly opinionated partner; to fellow private-school mothers in Seattle, she's a disgrace; to design mavens, she's a revolutionary architect, and to 15-year-old Bee, she is a best friend and, simply, Mom.
Then Bernadette disappears. It began when Bee aced her report card and claimed her promised reward: a family trip to Antarctica. But Bernadette's intensifying allergy to Seattle - and people in general - has made her so agoraphobic that a virtual assistant in India now runs her most basic errands.

I Want to Give the Narrator 10 Stars!
Revisado: 04-19-15
This is a fabulous, funny book from an Arrested Development writer. It met my expectations in the humor department. But the narration by Kathleen Wilhoite brought the book to a whole new level
Wilhoite had a distinct speaking voice for all of "Bernadette's" characters and later in the story blew me away with her singing. This book was a true pleasure to listen to. Kathleen Wilhoite, please narrate more books. You could read me anything and I would listen!

It Had It's Moments
Revisado: 11-01-14
What did you like best about Not That Kind of Girl? What did you like least?
The stories were funny and interesting and it felt intimate listening to Lena Dunham read them.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Lena Dunham. I admire her for writing about herself and for creating her own productions to star in. She seems unique and quirky and at the same time like an "every-girl" that we can all relate to.
What aspect of Lena Dunham’s performance would you have changed?
Sometimes her reading was spot-on and sometimes it was stilted. I wouldn't have wanted anyone else to narrate this book but I feel like I want to go back in time and ask her for a retake on certain readings, get her some soup and a warm sweater, make sure she's feeling her best while she reads.
What else would you have wanted to know about Lena Dunham’s life?
I was happy with what I learned overall. When she has more to tell, I'm sure she will.

Good overall but I didn't like 1 of the narrators
Revisado: 11-13-13
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
For the most part. I enjoyed the story but found myself wishing I was reading the book myself because I didn't like the voices put on by one of the three narrators.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
"Wait. That's it?" I wanted to know what happened next for these characters!
How did the narrator detract from the book?
The narrators for Helen and Willa were both great. I could listen to Willa's narrator read anything. Her voice and accent were beautiful. The narration for Tansy fit in well with the other two narrators but, whoever she is, isn't cut out to do multiple voices. Her male characters all sounded like kids' cartoon villains and her female characters (besides Tansy herself) sounded like southern Marilyn Monroes, high and breathy.
If this book were a movie would you go see it?
Probably
