I was given a copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads. (Audiobook Version)
I love pretty much anything S.J.D. Peterson writes and this was no exception. I love that her characters don't always make the right choices and they don't always do things perfectly. They are human and make mistakes and it makes the story so captivating.
I listened to the audiobook version of this and the loss of the star comes from that more so than the actual story. At the beginning of the book, I really just had a hard time with the narrator and distinguishing between the main characters. There was also background noise that was quite distracting at times.
Other than that, I love that we got a sweet romance even if it was a bit fast paced for me. It kind of seemed like the relationship went from just two men sleeping together because they can't keep their hands to themselves to someone issuing the L word and I didn't feel like their relationship had really gotten to that point since it seemed like more than 90% of their time together was between the sheets and we didn't see much evolving in the relationship they had.
The plotline was definitely interesting and not expected from how the story started.

Normally I LOVE Mary Calmes stories... Especially when they are read by Greg Tremblay. However, I have to say the beginning of this story was very hard for me to follow. The whole bouncing back in time then forward again... I got sort of lost in what was happening then and what was happening now (especially when it came to Ash - although I did figure it out as the story commenced).
I do love a good second chance story and how these two came together. The fact that the past pain wasn't quickly pushed aside was nice. Too often you see characters saying something was just soul crushing, but they quickly get over it... not in this story. I really appreciated it.
I do wish he'd have called Ash out a bit more at the end too. It felt like a big moment, but just sort of swept under the rug.
All in all another good story with a great narration coupled with it.

Retiring from stealing priceless treasures seemed like a surefire way for Rook Stevens to stay on the right side of the law. The only cop in his life should have been his probably-boyfriend, Los Angeles Detective Dante Montoya, but that's not how life - his life - is turning out. Instead, Rook ends up not only standing in a puddle of his cousin Harold's blood but also being accused of Harold's murder...and sleeping with Harold's wife.

Round 2
Revisado: 12-07-17
I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads (Audiobook Review).
Oh man. I did not expect where this story went. I absolutely fell in love with Rook's crabby grandfather. The way both men were willing to make sacrifices for each other made me swoon. Two very strong men with very stubborn spirits found their perfect matches and it's so much fun to follow along.
Learning more about Rook's life was interesting (and quite sad at times). I love that he didn't let his grandfather's attitude push him away because they were quite similar as we learn the more we got to see them interact.
Dante was his own kind of awesome in this story. He gets the proof he's been wanting for so long only for it to not really matter. The way he handles Rook's past is admirable considering what it had put both of them through.
Another home run by Greg Tremblay but that's exactly what I've come to expect from the books he narrates.

Former cat burglar Rook Stevens stole many a priceless thing in the past, but he's never been accused of taking a life - until now. It was one thing to find a former associate inside Potter's Field, his pop culture memorabilia shop, but quite another to stumble across her dead body.

Mystery and Romance
Revisado: 12-07-17
I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads (Audiobook Review).
I absolutely loved the chemistry between Rook and Dante. Their back and forth with the love/hate thing they have going on was just great. I couldn't put the story down (or stop listening as is the case with an audiobook).
I loved that while we watched their relationship evolve, we also had this really interesting plot going on that sort of pushed the romance to the backseat at times, but that was okay because I wanted to know what was going to happen next and WHY it was all happening.
A perfect combination of mystery, romance and heat.
As usual Greg Tremblay knocked it out of the park. I loved the accent he put on Dante's parts. Just perfect. Greg always does a fantastic job and he didn't disappoint!

I have to say that I didn't particularly care for the heavy politics in this book, however, I did enjoy the story especially with the situation the US is dealing with right now so it was sort of relevant.
I really enjoyed the storyline as well as the narrator. Will definitely be looking for more from both of them.

Awesome Story with an okay narrator
Revisado: 12-22-16
I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.
I have to say that this book really was hard for me to get into at first. There were so many people and so much that was going on that it really did take me a bit to get into it. However, it was still good enough that even though I was confused with all the characters and the setting, I didn't want to put it down. The further into the story that I got, the more I didn't want to put it down.
I really enjoyed the way the author yanks the reader's emotions around and gets us so involved in the story. I really hope we get more stories like this from Santino Hassell. I enjoyed his Five Boroughs series, I liked this one just as much if not more.
I did get the opportunity to review the audiobook version of this book as well and I sadly have to say that I really didn't feel like the narrator did a great job. While he didn't do terrible, I really felt like he read entirely too fast and that may have contributed some of my confusion in the beginning.

Great sequel!
Revisado: 11-27-16
I HAD to pick this book up after the ending on book one.. RIGHT AWAY.. That ending.. wicked and heart breaking.
The first story was great, but this one.. this one by far passed it! I didn't think it would, but the more the story unfolded, the more I couldn't wait to find out what happened next.
There is love and sex, which was the sweet part of the story... and then there is the rest.. There is time when my stomach twisted because of the horrible things that we were finding out and the things that were happening! This poor couple and the sweet little girl that gets caught in the middle....
I will say that the words being repeated THREE times ALL the time got to be a bit much, but I will COMPLETELY applaud the narrators for making it as bearable as possible, but it was distracting and annoying at times through both books. However, the other aspects of the book were so great I can't mark down on the rating because of it.
Again Andi Arndt and Sebastian York did a FANTASTIC job with this story and I really have gotten to the point where I will pick up almost any book they do together because they add so much to the story!

Historia
Haven Antonelli and Carmine DeMarco grew up under vastly different circumstances. Haven, a second-generation slave, was isolated in the middle of the desert, her days full of hard work and terrifying abuse. Carmine, born into a wealthy Mafia family, lived a life of privilege and excess. Now a twist of fate has caused their worlds to collide. Entangled in a web of secrets and lies, they learn that while different on the surface, they have more in common than anyone would think.

Mafia and Slave Love... better than you think!
Revisado: 11-27-16
Uh.... yeah.. I was left just breathless and stunned by this book. I simply had to step back and take a minute before I could write this review.
There is so much pain and suffering and hard life that Haven has to deal with, but Carmine's life is so different and he doesn't treat her the way everyone else in her life has.
Normally I don't particularly care for NA titles as, sadly, I'm well out of that age range myself. However, this story was just so great it really didn't matter. I wanted to slap Carmine on the back of the head for his impulsiveness, but he was so sweet it was hard to hold a grudge.
The way this story twists together to come back around and reveal secrets you didn't even realize were coming was great.
I have to note that the narrator was FANTASTIC, she really really really added to this story and brought an element of intrigue to the story so much so that I don't think reading it would've been nearly as good as listening to her reading it to me!

Wonderful Story about Two Opposites Attracting!
Revisado: 11-27-16
I'll admit I picked this book up because of WHO the NARRATORS were over who the author was. I absolutely adore Andi Arndt and Sebastian York! They make a wonderful pair to listen to so I really had no idea what I was getting into when it came to the actual story, but I am SO glad I picked it!
Sebastian and Shea are so different. They lead completely different lives but there is just something that draws them to each other even when they don't want it to. They both have secrets and struggles to deal with in their lives that make them being together difficult, but as the story progresses we find there are somethings that actually link them in the strangest of ways.
The plot and characters of this story were just fantastic. I loved every second of it! My heart was completely broken at the end of the story and I just HAD to have the second book.. right away, which I was thankful it was available so I could jump right in!
Oh and I have to add that there were some super hot scenes in the story that simply added to the excellence!

Wonderful Story with a Dark Twist!
Revisado: 11-27-16
I absolutely LOVED this book. It is dark, it is twisted and it is absolutely AWESOME... This is a book that PERFECTLY fits into Dark Erotica without there really being any abuse or torture to go with it.... although there is other dark events that occur, it's not a slave relationship that is usually what comes with dark erotica so this was a really refreshing story.
This book kept me guessing at what was going to happen while silently cheering on both Melody and Liam in all their twistedness and sexiness. I could not get enough when it came to these two.
The narrator did a fantastic job as did the author. It was a great paring that I can't wait to get the rest of the story from!
