Good knowledge of wine. I purchased the paperback book too

I enjoyed listening to this boom while driving. The information was very informative but I felt the physical book would be better for long-term reference purposes.

Both interesting & boring
Revisado: 06-17-21
Parts of the book revealed facts and history I was not aware of, but other parts seemed to drag on with background and details that were both boring and unnecessarily detailed (e.g.: jazz chaptersssss). The narrator sounded robotic & bored as well.

Historia
The 2016 election was a watershed for the United States. But, as Tim Alberta explains in American Carnage, to understand Trump’s victory is to view him not as the creator of this era of polarization and bruising partisanship, but rather as its most manifest consequence. American Carnage is the story of a president’s rise based on a country’s evolution and a party’s collapse. As George W. Bush left office with record-low approval ratings and Barack Obama led a Democratic takeover of Washington, Republicans faced a moment of reckoning.

Lots of interesting details
Revisado: 05-09-21
If you don’t like details, behind the scenes glimpses, and sidebars into what ancillary members of the white house administration and the house and senate were doing or how they fit into the overall Trump presidency, then this book is not for you. I enjoyed the chronological order of the book and the details. If you’re like me, you’ll enjoy it.

This is her most personal memoir yet.

What happened? Still wondering
Revisado: 10-11-20
I was disappointed that, in my mind, the answer to the book’s title “What Happened” was never satisfactorily answered. Parts were interesting or revealing, but overall I came away disappointed, as I did with the 2016 results.

Craig Ferguson has defied the odds his entire life. He has failed when he should have succeeded and succeeded when he should have failed. The fact that he is neither dead nor in a locked facility (at the time of printing) is something of a miracle in itself. In Craig’s candid and revealing memoir, listeners will get a look into the mind and recollections of the unique and twisted Scottish American who became a national hero for pioneering the world’s first TV robot skeleton sidekick and reviving two dudes in a horse suit dancing as a form of entertainment.

Historia
Bryan Cranston landed his first role at seven, when his father, a struggling actor and director, cast him in a United Way commercial. Soon Bryan was haunting the local movie theater, memorizing and reenacting favorite scenes with his older brother. Acting was clearly the boy's destiny - until one day his father disappeared. Suddenly destiny took a backseat to survival. Seeking something more stable, perhaps subconsciously trying to distance himself from his absent father, Cranston decided on a career in law enforcement.

Revisado: 06-14-20
I loved “Breaking Bad” and binge watched it just as Brian described in this book. The book, however, was much more a wonderful journey of Brian’s life-experiences than it was simply about Breaking Bad. It was a thoroughly delightful story and Brian is a remarkable person. Highly recommend this book!!

Historia
In November 2014, 13 members of the Biden family gathered on Nantucket for Thanksgiving, a tradition they had been celebrating for the past 40 years; it was the one constant in what had become a hectic, scrutinized, and overscheduled life. The Thanksgiving holiday was a much-needed respite, a time to connect, a time to reflect on what the year had brought, and what the future might hold. But this year felt different from all those that had come before.

Dozens died of radiation poisoning, fallout contaminated half the continent, and thousands fell ill. In Chernobyl, Serhii Plokhy draws on new sources to tell the dramatic stories of the firefighters, scientists, and soldiers who heroically extinguished the nuclear inferno. He lays bare the flaws of the Soviet nuclear industry....

OMG!
Revisado: 04-20-20
I listened to this book after having watched the Chernobyl mini-series on HBO. I think this order of exposure to the subject was ideal, going from a higher level recounting of the subject to a much more in-depth narrative. Both are highly engaging and alarming at the same time. I can’t believe the amount of cover-up and needless exposure of humans to radiation was allowed to occur just to save face. Very good book.
