Jesus is worth it and it is wonderful to be reminded through these stories.
I also loved the reader. His voice was so easy to listen to.

Historia
Modern culture is increasingly outspoken against a biblical understanding of what it means to be a woman. Even some Christians, swayed by the LGBTQ+ movement, have rejected God’s word on issues of sexuality and gender in favor of popular opinion. In light of these pressures, it’s more important than ever to help women see the truth about who God created them to be. In this powerful book, Rosaria Butterfield uses Scripture to confront 5 common lies about sexuality, faith, feminism, gender roles, and modesty often promoted in our secular culture today.

Crunchy is a spectrum
Revisado: 03-17-24
I appreciated Emily’s voice in this so much, she is such a warm person, one really thinks they could easily be friends with her, despite how much she assures the reader that she is really very awkward.
She kindly gives tips for how one could be a little more crunchy, if they so choose, along side endearing stories from her own life.
This is an enjoyable read whether you desire to be crunchy or not.
Because of Emily I chose to open as many windows (as had intact screens) I could while I listened and thought about what other “easy plus one” things I could do in my own life to be a little healthier for my family.
I look forward to more from the Morrows to come.

Historia
In virtually every way that can be measured, Gen Z’s mental health is worse than that of previous generations. Youth suicide rates are climbing, antidepressant prescriptions for children are common, and the proliferation of mental health diagnoses has not helped the staggering number of kids who are lonely, lost, sad and fearful of growing up. What’s gone wrong with America’s youth? In Bad Therapy, bestselling investigative journalist Abigail Shrier argues that the problem isn’t the kids—it’s the mental health experts.

A needed book for parents
Revisado: 03-06-24
Abigail Shrier is like a voice crying out in the wilderness. No one really wants to hear what she has to say, but that doesn’t change the truth of her message. She is brave in this age of “gentle” cancel culture warriors. I admire her work, and I am grateful. I hope that people (particularly moms who I believe are often the driving force) will pick up this book and give it the real consideration it deserves. So far I have had people angry with me for even sharing such harmful ideas as that we should be cautious to medicalizing and diagnosing our children
She has given me pause as someone who has taken my children to receive diagnosises, and has filled prescriptions for children with adhd.
Never did I feel judged for these actions, rather encouraged that I wasn’t crazy when I saw negative side effects, and that we can overcome challenges. A reminder of the need for reliance, and explanation for why there seems to be so little resiliency amongst my peers and those younger.
Bad Therapy and Irreversible Damage are in my top recommends for anyone who will listen to me.

A sentimental must read
Revisado: 05-06-23
My only qualm with this edition is that the audio was occasionally marred by repetition. For some reason whole minutes would repeat sometimes thrice in a row. Other than this the narrator was delightful and I wish that I had read this book year earlier.
If you enjoyed 1994’s adaptation you will especially love the greater context and “seeing” these fears more in your mind’s eye.

In Counseling the Hard Cases, editors Stuart Scott and Heath Lambert use the true stories of real patients to show how the truths of God’s word can be released to bring help, hope, and healing into the lives of those who struggle with some of the most difficult psychiatric diagnoses.

Helpful material
Revisado: 11-07-22
The material is very helpful and needed. I didn’t love the narrator. I think primarily because the audio quality was lacking. ‘S’ sounds came across as whistles in various parts. Other issues include audio skipping and repetition of phrases. It was like listening to a skipping cd at times.

Historia
Behind a smokescreen of “preparing students for the new industrial economy,” early progressives had political control in mind. America’s original schools didn’t just make kids memorize facts or learn skills; they taught them to think freely and arrive at wisdom. They assigned the classics, inspired love of God and country, and raised future citizens that changed the world forever.

Revisado: 08-26-22
Everyone should listen to this book. But especially those who feel frustrated when it’s suggested that public schools aren’t great. Those who are offended by friends and relatives who have opted out. You at least need to know the full why so you can better disagree or perhaps learn that you were mistaken.
Don’t let pride get in the way of such an important thing like your child’s education.

I heard once that children’s literature should be enjoyable for adults too. This series is just as enjoyable to my children as it is to me. I found myself afraid for Janner and almost holding my breath several times while listening. This is such a good story for children and grownups alike.

This is a must listen
Revisado: 02-13-22
Hillary and Amy have done it again. This is the perfect overview book for the church to learn about the various issues regarding sexuality facing our culture today. The information is so helpful I have sight read the book twice and also listened to the audio.
The topics are addressed with compassion and truth. I have no hesitation in recommending this book to any person… and in fact have passed out physical copies to those around me because I believe this book to hold such value.
Hillary is also a fantastic reader, I hope to hear her read more books in the future.
