Historia
Dr. Peterson guides us through the ancient, foundational stories of the Western world. In riveting detail, he analyzes the Biblical accounts of rebellion, sacrifice, suffering, and triumph that stabilize, inspire, and unite us culturally and psychologically. Adam and Eve and the eternal fall of mankind; the resentful and ultimately murderous war of Cain and Abel; the cataclysmic flood of Noah; the spectacular collapse of the Tower of Babel; Abraham’s terrible adventure; and the epic of Moses and the Israelites.

Historia
In The Day the Revolution Began, N. T. Wright once again challenges commonly held Christian beliefs, as he did in Surprised by Hope. Demonstrating the rigorous intellect and breathtaking knowledge that have long defined his work, Wright argues that Jesus' death on the cross was not only to absolve us of our sins, it was actually the beginning of a revolution commissioning the Christian faithful to a new vocation - a royal priesthood responsible for restoring and reconciling all of God's creation.

A new look at the new creation
Revisado: 04-22-24
The best inspiring explanation of the cross I have ever heard ! Engaging , provoking and challenging! I am thankful to Tom Wright for highlighting how Jesus intended for His crucifixion to be understood by the story of the Passover. Wright made it very clear to me that the new creation began with the resurrection of Jesus and everything else flows out from His resurrection. Wright’s explaining of the new creation is such a fresh approach compared to the limited view so many have told in the past. His emphasis on the original vocation of Adam and Eve being “royal priesthood “ is then brought out as God’s purpose in sending Jesus to put the rulership of the earth (royal priesthood)back into human authority thru Jesus’ resurrection . Knowing that thru Jesus we are called to be “royal priesthood “also, clarifies our vocational role. Showing how surrendering our authority to idols gave away our God given role as “royal priests” was a new insight for sure. Wright is full of wonderful surprises .The old creation’s Adam handed over his authority to idols but the new creation’s Adam restored it to mankind through the resurrection.

Historia
N. T. Wright—widely regarded as the most influential commentator and interpreter of Paul—deftly unpacks this dense and sometimes elusive letter, detailing Paul's arguments and showing how it illuminates the Gospel from the promises to Abraham through the visions of Revelation. Wright takes a deep dive into Romans 8, showing how it illuminates so much else that God reveals in Scripture: God the Father, Christology, and the Spirit; Jesus' Messiahship, cross, resurrection, and ascension; salvation, redemption, and adoption; suffering and glory; holiness and hope.

Man’s vocation
Revisado: 01-05-24
Very clear presentation of Jesus as priest and king. Excellent highlight in Romans Chapter eight of how we are joined into Jesus’ vocation (co-ruling with Him)and share with Him the inheritance of this world. This is a very convincing interpretation of Rom. 5-8 as seen by Paul as stepping thru “New Exodus and Passover “. Inspiring look at what it means to be a fully developed “human”-fulfilling the priestly and ruling role of mankind created in God’s image.

Historia
Considered by many to be Chesterton's greatest masterpiece, this audiobook declares his comprehensive view of world history as informed by the Incarnation. Retelling mankind's story from the very beginning, he shows how all human desires are fulfilled in the person of Christ and Christ's church. With his characteristic brilliance and irony, he argues that Christianity is not just a religion to stand beside other religions, for the fact of the Incarnation sets it apart.

Chesterton is stunning in his scope and outline of the history of man !!!
Revisado: 08-12-22
Chesterton style is at once arresting and picturesque. No one has covered the entire history of man so engagingly for me as in this book. Even though his information is not up to date with current discoveries, the way he deals with the world religions is very thought provoking. This book is a gem!!

Trained as an evangelical Bible scholar, Peter Enns loved the Scriptures and shared his devotion by teaching at Westminster Theological Seminary. Let the Bible be itself.
Revisado: 08-03-22
Pete helps us to read the Bible without us forcing a presupposed idea of what it says. He is honest and transparent. I don’t need to force a previously received interpretation upon the Bible but let it be God inspired through human frailties, just as we are expected to understand Jesus as God enfleshed with His human frailties. Excellent insights and truly thought provoking!!

I believe this book will help many Christians navigate the uncomfortable decisions surrounding loving people and speaking truth to them. Very helpful in thinking through modern dilemmas that are not immediately clear in scriptures.

Historia
Intellectual certainty has long been a cornerstone of the Christian faith. But in an age of secularism, skepticism, and cynicism, our worldviews have been shaken. Various solutions exist - some double down on certainty, while others deconstruct their faith until there is nothing left at all. But Brian Zahnd offers a third way: What is needed is not a demolition, but instead a renovation of faith. Written with personal and pastoral experience, Zahnd extends an invitation to move beyond the crisis of faith toward the journey of reconstruction.

Wonderful guidance
Revisado: 07-06-22
Brian has done a great service for Christians that struggle with fundamental upbringing and still believe in the resurrected Jesus Christ-he very inspiringly gives guidance in how to be grounded and established in a personal revelation of Jesus Christ that will navigate us through “this present darkness “ until we are are dwelling in the “Father’s House of Love”-thank you Brian for this wonderful gift. Very insightful history both secular and religious-especially regarding the enlightenment, modernity and post modernity. Coverage of kierkegaard and Nietzsche very helpful in understanding the challenges that caused the “battle for the Bible” issues that then helped develop “fundamentalism”.

How the Bible Actually Works makes clear that there is no one right way to read or listen to the Bible. Moving us beyond the damaging idea that “being right” is the most important measure of faith, Enns’ freeing approach to Bible study helps us to instead focus on pursuing enlightenment and building our relationship with God - which is exactly what the Bible was designed to do.

Excellent, clear presentation of how the books of the Bible came into existence and the cultural background that is necessary to read these books fairly. No doubt many thoughts presented here will be challenging to people ,but it is well worth the listen.
