Historia
Lilly Bly desperately wants to have a baby. She is struggling with infertility and bad spending habits when her husband, Jack, gets a new job that moves them from Chicago to a small town in Wisconsin. Impractical Lilly falls in love with a decrepit mansion well out of their price range—she is convinced that she will finally get pregnant and have a baby in this house—and Jack agrees to it. But when Lilly learns that her dream house was the site of a gruesome triple homicide/suicide in the 1950s, she begins to experience strange occurrences that soon lead her to believe the house is haunted.

A Hauntingly Great Ride
Revisado: 08-26-24
The main character, Lilly has an intriguing past, and is not without her issues. It is this past and these very issues that make her such an interesting character.
Her relationship with her husband Jack is tumultuous to say the least, with him being the bread winner and her being the bread spender, one may wonder why they stay in this relationship, but it quickly becomes obvious that these two love each other. Jack genuinely wants Lily to be happy. Hence buying the mansion, which they both know they can’t afford.
But, Lilly, haunted by the past, believes that this old house is the place in which she was destined to be a mother. This is where the seeds of family will finally germinate, so the more issues that arise in the dilapidated gothic mansion, the more she digs her heels in and fights to maintain her claim on the house.
The pacing of the story is quick and deliberate, there are not a lot of extraneous words, or wasted time in this novel. It clips along like a Porsche on the autobahn. The author does a great job of introducing side characters and tying small town charm into the novel, giving the reader a real sense of being in that small community with Lilly.
As the pacing quickens towards the books shocking climax, we witness Lilly’s world fall apart and are left wondering how she will salvage all she has fought for,. Plagued by ghosts and guilt, the author takes us on this death defying ride and lands us satisfied at the end of the book.
A great read! And a great novel.

Insipid Brain Candy
Revisado: 08-26-24
I don’t often review books, but this is more a cautionary tale than a review.
I am amazed at how many 5 star reviews this book has because, well, it’s horrible. Sydney, the protagonist, is an immature, supercilious. Argumentative, non-believing FBI Agent. Her catch phrase is “What in the world is going on here?” Followed by her close second, “I need information now!” She is not likable, but more importantly she is not interesting, and after 3 books had ZERO character growth. That’’s right, even after encounter these supernatural being, she doesn’t believe in them and scoffs at every assignment, with things like, “Right, Gargoyles, you’re crazy” This is after killing an Harpy and a Werewolf. Stupid.
The Male Protagonist, John Smoke, is nearly as badly written, with his sophomoric humor and “Gee Golly” kind of charm, he is, according to his “file”, a “Loose Cannon”, but we just see this over grown agreeable child, whom Sydney apparently loves, but can’t, nay, WON’T bring herself to allow to grow into something else. SO they bicker, ALL THE TIME! It gave me a headache.
The author knows nothing about weapons (do your research, really an S&W 22 caliber Glock?) or fighting. The Plot is sketchy, and repetitive utilizing the exact same formula for every book, so even though thin, the plot is predictable and trite.
The bottom line here is that it’s really not worth the 1 credit I spent, and more importantly, it’s not worth the 48 hours of my life I spent listening to this drivel.
The poor narrator had to actually read the sound effects (Bang, Bangbangbang, the gun shots rang all around her) and brought me right out of the book. Also her voicing the 10 year girl was screechy and nearly unlistenable.
The good news is, this was 1 credit for 10 books, the bad news is, this was 1 credit for 10 books. The only redeeming thing about this series of books is that I have now listened to the worst bool I have ever suffered through. So if that is the experience you’re looking for, buy it, because in spite of what you have read in the reviews up to this point, it’s genuinely terrible.

Worst book ever
Revisado: 07-26-18
This is the first book I've ever gotten on Audible that I could not even finish. I got to chapter 8 (out of 15) an arduous journey itself, before giving up.
Each chapter was given a rule to live, my best example being "Don't let your kids do things that make you hate them" and then the author would expound on them exponentially until you have actually forgotten what in the Hell he was talking about. Most, if not all of it surrounded Genesis and the creation story. I'm talking every chapter, every time!
The book is dry and the reader humorless. Imagine sitting in your least favorite paleontology class in college and being lectured to for 20 hours... in a row... while sitting in a cushion of broken glass... naked. That would be a much better experience than listening to this book.
Do you thing this review is boring? Try listening to this book.
Bottom line. Save your money. if you want the "lessons" contained in this book read Genesis and don't be afraid to discipline your child. Oh.... then read Genesis again and then... again.

Welcome to another typical summer in Florida, the season of the storms. Serge Storms. That loveable serial killer, an under-under-medicated dispenser of truth, justice, and trivia, is back with a vengeance. And not a weirdness-laced moment too soon. His cherished home state is about to take a beating, and from far more than the way-too-routine conga line of hurricanes bearing down on the peninsula. Corpses have begun turning up at a disturbing rate, even for Florida.

That was different
Revisado: 04-22-17
This is what, my 9th Serge A Storm book. Up until now the same narrator, whom I loved so this threw me a bit.
About half way in I realized it's not necessarily the narrator but the quality of the story that keeps you entertained.
Yes, the narrator is different, totally different take in the old characters, but it's the same great writing. Tim Dorsey does it again!

In the first book of this brilliant series, Stephen King introduces listeners to one of his most powerful creations: Roland of Gilead, The Last Gunslinger. He is a haunting figure, a loner on a spellbinding journey into good and evil. In his desolate world, which frighteningly mirrors our own, Roland tracks The Man in Black, encounters an enticing woman named Alice, and begins a friendship with the boy from New York named Jake.

Quite a few of the people in my circle recommended this series. The spoke of intrigue and drama. I found the story to be lacking in all accounts. The narrator was good enough, but it was hard to tell because the story was so slow. I am a stephan king fan, but if the rest of the series is anything like this book, I shan't be listening.

Historia
For someone who’s been alive for two thousand years, Atticus O’Sullivan is a pretty fast runner. Good thing, because he’s being chased by not one but two goddesses of the hunt—Artemis and Diana—for messing with one of their own. Dodging their slings and arrows, Atticus, Granuaile, and his wolfhound, Oberon, are making a mad dash across modern-day Europe to seek help from a friend of the Tuatha Dé Danann. His usual magical option of shifting planes is blocked, so instead of playing hide-and-seek, the game plan is . . . run like hell.

Historia
Ensconced in a lovely tropical villa on idyllic Triggerfish Lane, Jim Davenport anticipates the good life to come. But this isn't living -- it's Florida, and the neighborhood is not quite what it seems. It's got overly aggressive Little League parents, drug-free Rastafarians, homicidal hookers, unnatural sex and casual violence. Oh, yes, and there's a psychopathic serial killer-cum-Sunshine-State folklorist named Serge A. Storms living directly across the street.
