Historia
Doris Grandfelt, an employee at an accounting firm, was brutally stabbed to death . . . but nobody knew exactly where the crime took place. Her body was found the next night, dumped among a dense thicket of trees along the edge of an urban park, eight miles east of St. Paul, Minnesota. Despite her twin sister Lara Grandfelt’s persistent calls to the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, the killer was never found.

Should be called Lethal Prey Part One
Revisado: 04-05-25
I’m a huge John Sanford fan. Always feel like reading his books are like checking in again with family friends in law enforcement. This book was a big disappointment and not worth the money. The book ends without resolution and felt like a cliff hanger 2/3 of the way through the story. Clearly the narrative will be continued in another book. I would guess it’s already written and was planned to be published separately at twice the profit. If the story doesn’t continue it will be very disappointing indeed though will wait to get the next one from the library for free.

Wonderful narration
Heart wrenching and eye opening story of the boy who became Elton John. I’ve listened to this book several times and highly recommend it.

Historia
It is Coronation Year, 1953, and a new queen is about to be crowned. The people of London are in a mood to celebrate, none more so than the residents of the Blue Lion hotel. Edie Howard, owner and operator of the floundering Blue Lion, has found the miracle she needs: on Coronation Day, Queen Elizabeth in her gold coach will pass by the hotel’s front door, allowing Edie to charge a fortune for rooms and, barring disaster, save her beloved home from financial ruin. Edie’s luck might just be turning, all thanks to a young queen about her own age.

Quick and enjoyable read but audio version disappointed
Revisado: 04-24-23
I tend to first read the physical book and then if I enjoyed the book, listen to it. It’s better than seeing the movie of favorite books. I really enjoyed The Gown so eagerly awaited Coronation Day. The book descriptions were evocative with great characters. It was an easy read that kept me up..reading just one more chapter. The audio version however was somewhat disappointing. I found the narrator of the Stella chapters annoying to listen to. Her accent was unconvincing and inconsistent. The other chapters were wonderfully cast and read.

Historia
What begins as a typical day for Officer Bernadette Manuelito - serving a bench warrant, dealing with a herd of cattle obstructing traffic, and stumbling across a crime scene - takes an unexpected twist when she’s called to help find an old friend. Years ago, Bernie and Maya were roommates, but time and Maya’s struggles with addiction drove them apart. Now Maya’s brother asks Bernie to find out what happened to his sister. Tracing Maya’s whereabouts, Bernie learns that her old friend had confessed to the murder of her estranged husband, a prominent astronomer.

New narrator a huge disappointment
Revisado: 04-28-21
I was very disappointed with the new narrator. I often got confused as to who was speaking, as his various characters sometimes sounded the same. Even characters he attempted to distinguish did not sound consistent throughout the novel. His many mispronunciations of common geographic locations was unforgivable. Where was the audio director? I found his voices for Louisa and Lt Leaphorn particularly irritating. Please bring back Christina Delaine!
