Historia
Ann Rule was working on the biggest story of her career, tracking the trail of victims left by a brutal serial killer. Little did this future best-selling author know that the savage slayer she was hunting was the young man she counted among her closest friends. Everyone's picture of a natural winner, Ted Bundy was a bright, charming, and handsome man with a promising future as an attorney. But on January 24, 1989 Bundy was executed for the murders of three young women - and had confessed to taking the lives of at least thirty-five more women from coast to coast.

Good book!
Revisado: 01-04-20
I thought it was a bit sketchy that the author threw herself into the story line but as I kept listening I realized she really did know Ted and it was important to share that relationship in order to get the story across, especially since most true crime thrillers are written by people who don't know the criminal personally. It's definitely dark and I had to watch kitten videos on you tube in order to brighten up my mood afterwards but this is definitely an in depth look at the life and crimes of Ted Bundy. If you are into true crime this is a must read/listen.

Historia
Greg Wise reads Pierre Boulle's chilling, iconic novel about a nightmare world where apes rule over men. In a spaceship that can travel at the speed of light, Ulysse, a journalist, sets off from Earth for the nearest solar system. He finds there a planet which resembles his own, except that on Soror humans behave like animals and are hunted by a civilised race of primates.

I have not criticism to offer
Revisado: 05-18-15
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I love this book so much that I was sad that Pierre Boulle had no other books on audible to offer. He does an excellent job of verbalizing the main characters frustration with trying to prove his intellect to the apes without losing his mind.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Nova, she's definitely not that bright but I do appreciate that she gets smarter... maybe not smart enough to graduate from the third grade but it's a start.
Which scene was your favorite?
The end... I have nothing left to say about it but it was quite the ending.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
If I didn't have to work and eat, I would have listened in one sitting.
Any additional comments?
I hope more of his writing gets translated into english and become available on audible

Historia
Her name was Henrietta Lacks, but scientists know her as HeLa. She was a poor Southern tobacco farmer who worked the same land as her slave ancestors, yet her cells - taken without her knowledge - became one of the most important tools in medicine: The first “immortal” human cells grown in culture, which are still alive today, though she has been dead for more than 60 years. HeLa cells were vital for developing the polio vaccine; uncovered secrets of cancer, viruses, and the atom bomb’s effects.

Good book, good narration however one huge flaw.

Would you listen to The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks again? Why?
This is an excellent story but the author is far too narcissistic for me to handle. She manages to insert herself at every turn, as if she was victimized by the victimization of Henrietta Lacks.
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
This story should have been written on facts that did not include the author. If the author wanted to be included, the prologue and epilogue are excellent places for that. She was also condescending towards the subjects of the book. She acts as though the Lacks family is simple but they are not simple, they just did not have enough exposure to education or privilege by design. They trusted a lot of the wrong people, not due to simplicity, but because there was a profound level of ignorance the universe had to offer black people during that time.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I shed a tear or two with response to the generations of disadvantage this family was exposed to and the simplicity with which they were portrayed.

Too bad it's abridged.
Revisado: 05-25-12
Would you try another book from Laura Schlessinger and/or Laura Schlessinger?
Yes, however, it's abridged so it served as a teaser that encouraged me to pick up the book and read it. An unabridged version isn't currently available as an audio.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
She bullet pointed her lessons and found extremely appropriate stories to illustrate them.
Have you listened to any of Laura Schlessinger’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
This is alot like her radio show but its' more like a greatest hits. It's better than her radio show at points because she doesn't have to tease out the questions and there's no rambling from the callers.
Was Ten Stupid Things Women Do to Mess Up Their Lives worth the listening time?
It was an excellent use of my time.
Any additional comments?
The recording was only an hour and a half. That's shorter than her radio show, that's ridiculous.
