Everything about this book is just beautiful. The story itself, although following a “Hero’s Journey” storyline, was done with beautifully unique characters, creatures and a magic system that made my soul sing. Lots of twists and turns, highs and lows. There is so much sadness and pain in the characters that resonated with me and I know the spirit of this book will resonate with so many other people.
If you’re on the fence, just buy the book/audiobook. You will not be disappointed.

Loved it but took a while to get through

I loved this one almost as well as the others in the series thus far but it did take me the longest to get through. I laughed, cried, cheered, mourned and hung on through all the ups and downs that the characters went through. Excited for the next one.

Even Better than I remembered it

I first read this book in middle school. Now, over 25 years later, not only is it better than I remember it being, it carries so much more weight.
It’s poetic and enchanting and heartbreaking and heartwarming all at the same.

The audio performance is perfect (in my opinion) and brought me to tears as many times as it made me laugh and sigh.

You will not be disappointed in this listen. Not in the slightest. As a matter of fact, I bet you’ll want to listen to it again. I know I will be.

I had so much fun listening to this adventure. After making it to the final book in the series and seeing its completion… It’s like I’ve watched friends grow up and mature. The entire series was extremely unique and a joy to experience. I especially loved how the world seemed to just get bigger and bigger with every book in the series. Thank you so much! What a ride!

Kept me on my toes

My favorite part of this book is that it was in no way predictable in regards to plot. I mean, I knew there would be a love interest but aside from that, every chapter was a surprise.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am eager to listen to the next one.

Why didn’t I listen sooner??

Friends had been recommending this book for ages and I was always tied up in one series or another, and never picked this one up.
Holy cow...I’m so glad I finally did. The Way of Kings is obviously masterfully written, but it was performed incredibly well too.
I love a good, LONG, epic fantasy, with a slow burn and build to a finale that gives me chicken skin and leaves me pacing around the house listening (or reading). I was literally talking to the characters like I do when I watch a really intense movie.
It was just...wow. Freaking amazing. The world building, the character development, the plot, the plot twists, and all the different characters that seem to be walking completely disconnected paths, but will eventually be brought together...It’s just so well done.
I don’t want to sound cliche, but there is a very good chance that this book just took a spot on my “Top Shelf” list of favorites.
Absolutely amazing.
Love it, love it, love it.

I absolutely love creature books and this one holds all of my favorite ones...even a few new ones! Face paced and a fantastic listen. You won’t be disappointed. I can’t wait to read or listen to the next book in the series!
