Disappointed...

I've read many of J.R. Ward's books and have loved them, but this series just isn't doing it for me. New storylines keep popping up, and there never seems to be an ending or conclusion to the original plot. I feel compelled to read the third book only because I want some closure. I'm hoping it will bring resolution to each tangent that has been introduced. The story moves slowly and feels repetitive, especially with the constant emphasis on how Lydia wants to protect and help Danial. There's too much detail and not enough action.

Predictable and the ending was underwhelming

I have read many of the Argeneau novels, I loved the early ones, but the more I read, the stories are getting very predictable and not very exciting. The previous two I read were also just "OK". I was hoping things changed.

The story line was compromised by the sex scenes

I don't mind a bit of sex, but this was way too much and it actually got boring. Also, this seemed to cut into the story that could have been more complete and detailed. I felt parts of the story could have used more depth and were rushed.

Very under developed story, unexpected Ms Sands

(Spoiler alert!) I have read so many of the Argeneau Novels and have loved most of them. The last couple were not up to par. This one had multiple issues. 1) The fact that typically humans have their memories erased when encountering immortals, why didn't these girls? 2) The experiences of Pet and Santo were so horribly graphic, but they are both so "normal" and the story was very normal, minimal action. 3) Sex...too much detail...with not enough other action to space out. 4) When Pet is notified that she has been turned. Oh, OK, that's cool...very blasé reaction. 5) The ending, was so quick and neat. We are suddenly thrown into Santo's nightmare, but we don't know that at first, then Pet just shows up with a dog and all their difficulties are easily solved. 6) Parker's father ends up being the bad guy (which I had guessed), and both Parker and his mom are "turned". This was also quick and few details and how quickly "everyone is OK"...Sorry, just didn't do it for me and I'm disappointed.

I have read all of the immortal guardians books, and have loved them all. This one fell short with character development, content,and overall story. It lacked the excitement of the previous books. It was predictable, introduced a new environment, away from the well known characters and North Carolina.

Not as good as the first book...but fun.

This book was a bit to predictable. Also, the ending was not very believable. But regardless, I love Chet! "Did I tell you that before?" The narrator is wonderful!

clever story told in the dogs point of view. very fun and had a lot of action. slightly disappointed by the hurried ending.

Very Underwhelmed.

I wish I had read the reviews prior to purchasing this book. As has been stated before the male narrator was overdramatic , choppy , sounded like he was from the J Peterman School of narration. I kept listening to the book hoping the story would get better because I have enjoyed this author's stories in the past. But the story was underwhelming as well.

I picked this book because I have loved the Diana Duvall series. all four stories were superficial and needed much more content. did not care much for the narrator.
