Narration was awful
Revisado: 08-25-24
Narrator (Author) couldn't vocally differentiate between characters. I wasn't able to follow the storyline because I kept getting stuck on figuring out which character was speaking.

Type of Story I Love
Revisado: 06-03-24
Loved it all. I listen to stories to go to sleep, but these books are NOT BORING. They take my mind away from thinking about troubles, to think about the people in the stories. So hearing nice stories like this one, and listening to good narration, is important to me.

Historia
Wessex Tales, a collection of short stories including "The Three Strangers", "The Withered Arm", and "The Distracted Preacher", deals with a number of timeless themes seen so often in Hardy’s work: marriage, class, revenge, and disappointed love. Many of the tales have a supernatural tinge, and all are set around Hardy’s much loved homeland.

I listen to books to help me sleep, not because they're boring as they are not. Michener tells ordinary stories that grow families and take me to dreaming of living within them.

Loved the story and the narration! Beautifully done and my all time favorite. George Eliot was a genius writer and Silas Marner should be required reading for all school children to teach the merits of honesty, humility, and the future fate.

Historia
Ten years ago, the Harper family disappeared. Their deserted cottage was left with the water running, the television playing cartoons, the oven ready for baking. The doors were locked from the inside. Overnight, the sleepy village of Nighbrook became notorious as the scene of the unsolved mystery of the decade, an epicentre for ghoulish media speculation. For crime journalist Naomi, solving the case has turned into an obsession. So now, with Ivy Cottage finally listed for sale, it’s her chance to mount an investigation like no other.

Hokey unbelievable resolution
Revisado: 01-30-22
Narrator not good at projecting a man's voice, so the dialogue becomes confusing. And the storyline was good until it took a hokey turn, which to me was sloppy and not well thought through.

Narrator's voice is wonderful but it's cadence
Revisado: 08-06-20
is almost monotone. Every sentence ends in the same upward cadence. And I didn't like how he voiced the children. The children's lines were written to sound sort of precocious and silly.

Well written and always a great listen with Wanda
Revisado: 07-30-20
Wanda McCaddon is a true storyteller which far exceeds being a narrator. Love the storyline set in medieval England and the main characters being a nun and a priest having some sexual tensions, but maintaining some distance. Its the story that is the focus, and not sex. Loved it!

Loved living thru history!
Revisado: 05-07-20
I felt like I was living and transcending the centuries with the characters. Love authors like Rutherford, and especially love the narration of Wanda McCaddon because her voice and diction are so clear, her volume stays steady, and she seamlessly changes her voice between characters making their each of their personas distinct.
