I only listened to about 3 hours before I gave up. The info was OK but to that point she had only told a lot of mythology about death and the only real exercise described to that point was to make a skeleton key from areal human bone. Really???? I'm not sure where the human bone market is! She keeps telling little stories then says "That's the spirit!" I really wanted to love this book or at least finish it just to see if it provided useful info later.. But I couldn't take one more ridiculous "That's the spirit!" Returning. :(

I love hiking stories. I really wanted to love this story. I forced myself to listen to an hour and a half and was still bored and unimpressed with a woman who walked out on the trail with next to no idea what she was doing with next to no supplies and sponged off whoever she met for food and a place to sleep. Perhaps it gets better if you don't give up...but I just couldn't listen any more. Returning it.

The research may be useful, but the reading of the book is hard to listen to with the unemotional and nearly robotic monotone direct read (apparently with no practice read through) and multiple miss-pronunciations. I wanted to like it, I tried to listen...but after the first few chapters I simply couldn't torture myself any longer. I'll be returning this one.

I was hesitant to order this but found it to be captivating and learned so much. Alessandra takes you on an incredible journey to meet the Black Madonna. She weaves the history of various Madonnas and Pagan Goddesses brilliantly.
