This is what happens when you follow Audible recommendations. Remember, they are interested in profit.
But if you prefer senseless body counts over developed characters and rational plots, here you go.

some technical errors, which I was surprised to see in a Patterson story, and it seems unlikely the Bobsey Twins will develop a following. Wiseass back-and-forth between them annoys rather than informs, and it took a lot of time to move the plot forward. congratulations to someone for their knowledge of technology in criminal investigation, but even people who aren't investigators will have a hard time suspending disbelief here. Definitely not a Michael Connelly piece.

narration doomed this book
Revisado: 07-13-24
I might have been able to slog through the 1950s-style PI wisecracks but the adenoidal narrator trying to sound tough kept making me think of the East Side Kids being played by the Little Rascals.
Can someone tell me if I should give another Crais book a chance?

Historia
Riverside Close is a picture-perfect community. The six exclusive and attractive houses are tucked far away from the noise and grime of city life, allowing the residents to enjoy beautiful gardens, pleasant birdsong, and tranquility from behind the security of a locked gate. It is the perfect idyll, until the Kentworthy family arrives, with their four giant, gas-guzzling cars, gaggle of shrieking children, and plans for a garish swimming pool in the backyard. Obvious outsiders, the Kentworthys do not belong in Riverside Close, and quickly offend every last one of the neighbors.

Hey, Tony...sorry...Anthony:
Revisado: 04-21-24
"How're you getting on with the next book? The new Hawthorne." We need the sixth in the series.
Even Hawthorne was annoyed with the lengthy set up to this fifth novel, but the information is essential and the wait is worth it. When Tony...sorry...Anthony...begins his first-person presentation, you will know you're back in the world he shares with Hawthorne. I could not turn it off.
Spots of Brit sarcasm that raised guffaws from even a Yank like me embedded in a plot that never ceases turning...superb!
As for the future, there's good news in the acknowledgements.

Sigh, have to wait a year for another good listen
Revisado: 11-08-23
Amazing how an author can so skillfully blend such a well-defined cast for over two decades of exquisite literature. Thank you, Mr. C. Anyone who has listened (and re-listened) to the audio series would know the characterizations of all the narrators are spot on. I am surprised to read negative comments about Peter Giles. He has been a long, strong contributor and articulates the way I think his characters absolutely would sound.
By the way, was anyone else raising their eyebrows when "all good things must end" came up twice?

Historia
This is Kazuo Ishiguro's profoundly compelling portrait of a butler named Stevens. Stevens, at the end of three decades of service at Darlington Hall, spending a day on a country drive, embarks as well on a journey through the past in an effort to reassure himself that he has served humanity by serving the "great gentleman," Lord Darlington. But lurking in his memory are doubts about the true nature of Lord Darlington's "greatness," and much graver doubts about the nature of his own life.

But there's plenty of horror in "normal" life, isn't there?
Also...thought it was nice to hear Harvey Keitel (uncredited) as Nick.
