Loved the story, but....
Revisado: 12-01-19
Listen, this lady narrator seriously takes away from the story. She is almost monotone, and after her terrible mispronunciation of words and names I don’t know why she was allowed to continue narrating. I think Leila’s story would be far more interesting if someone who actually tried to bring life to the characters narrated it. But the story overall is great and I would recommend the book. Just hope you read this and consider either letting the other narrator simply do the whole next book, or find another narrator to replace this woman. Thanks Steve for an amazing book in one of my favorite fictional universes!

Please never choose this narrator again!
Revisado: 07-14-19
While the story has some good potential, the narrator is honestly garbage. She mispronounces dozens of words, including names like Abaddon and Cerberus (why would you pronounce it kerb-er-us) and her flat delivery and terrible attempt at accents ruins this story. I hope for better choices in future narrators.

Historia
Hank is a thug. He knows he's a thug. He has no problem with that realization. In his view the galaxy has given him a gift: a mutation that allows him to withstand great deals of physical trauma. He puts his abilities to the best use possible and that isn't by being a scientist. Besides, the space station Belvaille doesn't need scientists. It is not, generally, a thinking person's locale. It is the remotest habitation in the entire Colmarian Confederation. There is literally no reason to be there.

Good story. Bad narrator.
Revisado: 01-23-19
I liked the story, and am a big fan of Steve McHugh’s work. This book and it’s predecessor was hard for me to listen to tho, as the narrator was honestly terrible. She mispronounced numerous things, like Abaddon and coupe and tourniquet. And her attempts at accents were subpar. I feel she never did any research on the previous works in this universe, which resulted in a poor performance. I hope she doesn’t narrate any more Steve McHugh books.

King Shrewd is dead at the hands of his son Regal. As is Fitz - or so his enemies and friends believe. But with the help of his allies and his beast magic, he emerges from the grave, deeply scarred in body and soul. The kingdom also teeters toward ruin: Regal has plundered and abandoned the capital, while the rightful heir, Prince Verity, is lost to his mad quest - perhaps to death. Only Verity's return - or the heir his princess carries - can save the Six Duchies.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes. Overall it was a great trilogy read by a great narrator.
What did you like best about this story?
I loved the constant fear of failure throughout the trilogy. Fitz is not perfect by any standard, but his pain is believable and his successes satisfying.

Just ok
Revisado: 10-08-12
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
While there are entertaining moments, this felt largely dull and predictable. It was good enough that I'd consider getting the second one in the series, but I wouldn't buy it for full price.
What could Jim Butcher have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
This focused too much on the elemental powers possessed by various characters. It could have left that out all together. It seems like something that has been done again and again.
Was Furies of Calderon worth the listening time?
I listened mostly while I was going to sleep. It wa fine for that.
