Historia
Critics of contemporary economics complain that belief in free markets - among economists as well as many ordinary citizens - is a form of religion. And, it turns out, that in a deeper, more historically grounded sense there is something to that idea. Contrary to the conventional historical view of economics as an entirely secular product of the Enlightenment, Benjamin M. Friedman demonstrates that religion exerted a powerful influence from the outset.

interesting piece of work
Revisado: 04-27-21
this book is voluminous because it is trying to show the history of economic thought as it pertains to religious influence. from Smith to Malthus to Keynes and Hayek.

Rebel Ideas is a fascinating journey through the science of team performance. It draws on psychology, economics, anthropology and genetics, and takes lessons from a dazzling range of case-studies, including the catastrophic intelligence failings of the CIA before 9/11, a communication breakdown at the top of Mount Everest, and a moving tale of deradicalisation in America's deep South. Plus: insights from the studio of the most successful songwriter you've never heard of, the secrets of the most creative and progressive schools in the world....

Not his best work
Revisado: 12-31-19
in defence for diversity, this is a book to read however, I was hoping to see how diversity created rebel ideas like Ellon Musk's Tesla. what was the story of diversity inherent in it.
the CIA angle would have done it , but he gave only one example and it was at the end.
he also didn't talk about neither did he dissociate his ideas from extreme radical far left groups. the elephant in the room question, "how do you sustain stellar performance and achieve bottom line without hiring the best but focusing on diversity",wasn't explained.
how to help companies recruit diverse groups yet intelligent people wasn't dealt with.
overall, this book is a compendium of rearticulation of issues wrong with non-diversity

Exhaustive and Enlightening
Revisado: 10-19-19
this is a book that throws emphasis on the kinds of politics that guarantees peace and progressive economics.
it gave general analysis on why some nations fail and others succeed and some nations that succeeded in time past are failing currently.
this is a good book to read about the economics of first world and third world nations. the reader is encouraged to read, Daniel Yergin's "Commanding Heights" and Thomas Sowell's, "Wealth Poverty and Politics"
a good read. it requires interest to start, patience and consistency to finish.
my favourite story was the bubonic plague story

What did the writer of Genesis mean by "the first day"? Is it a literal week or a series of time periods? If I believe that the earth is 4.5 billion years old, am I denying the authority of Scripture? In response to the continuing controversy over the interpretation of the creation narrative in Genesis, John Lennox proposes a succinct method of reading and interpreting the first chapters of Genesis without discounting either science or Scripture.

as I read through, I was humbled by the limit of what I knew, grateful for the privilege and luck I had due to the simple random fact I was born in the family that I come from.
this book makes you skeptic, you will learn to not take your efforts too seriously, your knowledge too important and your circumstance to severe if it were.
if you are an economist, this book would make you feel bad. if you have an MBA, this book would make you feel useless.

Pastors, please read!!!
Revisado: 04-09-19
I loved the book.. I had read Homodeus and it reads like Homodeus. This book will cause you to ponder on the realities of the near future. it analyzes the danger of the most probable options and tries to give way out. it is a book of questions, few answers and numerous insights. I would like my pastor to read it.
Yuval is an unrepentant gay atheists, his sexual and non religious identity is pasted allover his ideologies, you can't help but agree with some of his argument and reasoning. He has poked holes in many popular narrative. even though he is asking more questions than answers, it is a good read. don't read it alone. it is a book that you want to read and discuss.
my most favorable quote is in the intro
"in a world deluged by information, clarity is power"
the narrator did a great job too. I bought the hard copy, so while I listened, I marked insightful pages and noted areas I disagreed with...

Historia
In this short book, Sam Harris and Maajid Nawaz invite you to join an urgently needed conversation: Is Islam a religion of peace or war? Is it amenable to reform? Why do so many Muslims seem drawn to extremism? What do words like Islamism, jihadism, and fundamentalism mean in today's world? Remarkable for the breadth and depth of its analysis, this dialogue between a famous atheist and a former radical is all the more startling for its decorum. Harris and Nawaz have produced something genuinely new: they engage one of the most polarizing issues of our time - fearlessly and fully - and actually make progress.

PLEASANT CONTRADICTIONS
Revisado: 01-22-19
loved the book typically because of its conversational manner. though civil it was heated. I seem to understand Majid Nawaz better now. I still do not think Islam is a religion of peace but I can accept that some Muslims continually, actively or passively pursue a life of peace, tolerance and inclusiveness for the "other".
I can only wish Majid best of luck in his very tall order and hope he achieves his dream.
Sam was piously gentle and I enjoyed the way he displayed like a pro, how civil disagreement should be conducted.
this is a good book and it was properly illustrated in audio format.

Revisado: 01-20-19
This is a good strategy book and it is particularly a good book because it doesn't tell us something knew about Michael Porter's Competitive Strategy. Rather it goes to add something of value and entirely knew to the Business strategy body of knowledge.
if blue ocean, well described signifies creating value unexplored before thus gaining markets unexploited, This book is true to its central purpose. this book is a blue ocean among thoughts on strategy.
every business owner, thought leader, strategist should read this book... asides the typical boring pose of a business book, this book is a fantastic guide to leading market penetration in so many ways uncommonly utilized.
