Historia
James Kincaid is the type of guy who might be described as down on his luck, if only he’d had some luck to begin with. Like so many people in the shadows of Seattle, he’s trying to get by with what he has. In his case, that includes a lively spirit, a sadly diminished magical talent, quick wits, and good knowledge of the twists and turns of Seattle’s dingy streets and back alleys.

Young adult book read by LARPer
Revisado: 08-28-24
I have been a fan of Shadowrun and cyberpunk genre since the 90s. I do like the character concept and as at novella the story is like a one-off session. The style of writing feels like it's aimed at teens or young adults. I would have enjoyed this simple story and even the style of writing had it not been for the overacting by the reader. Imagine Christian Bale as Batman reading a teen fanfic about Shadowrun.

Painful: Novelization of a presumed movie sequel
Revisado: 11-15-21
The amount of 80s references feels forced and becomes down right eye rolling at times. It is almost like a bad writer tried to emulate the charm of the original book. Maybe it's a rushed unplanned sequel overly influenced by the success of the original with the assumption it will become a movie. Like someone took a script draft and packed it with overly detailed 80s references as page filler.
