Historia
America’s backstory is a whitewashed mythology implanted in our collective memory. It should come as no surprise that the dominant narrative of American history is blighted with errors and oversights—after all, history books were written by white men with their perspectives at the forefront. It could even be said that the devaluation and erasure of the Black experience is as American as apple pie. In Black AF History, Michael Harriot presents a more accurate version of American history.

That list....yea thats non existent after this book. My standards are now based around logic instead of looks, or being taller than me, or making a ton of money, or being so remarkably different than me that they add something special to my life that I cannot. God, none of that crap matters! That's how i feel about it 3 months after finishing it. It still makes sense.
Kind of dry, but a great listen. Lots of relate-able stories about others.

Historia
Though they have the vote and the Pill and haven't been burned as witches since 1727, life isn't exactly a stroll down the catwalk for modern women. They are beset by uncertainties and questions: Why are they supposed to get Brazilians? Why do bras hurt? Why the incessant talk about babies? And do men secretly hate them? Caitlin Moran interweaves provocative observations on women's lives with laugh-out-loud funny scenes from her own, from adolescence to her development as a writer, wife, and mother.

Little changes can make a big, big difference! In The Little Book of Big Change, psychologist Amy Johnson shows you how to rewire your brain and overcome your bad habits - once and for all. No matter what your bad habit is, you have the power to change it. Drawing on a powerful combination of neuroscience and spirituality, this book will show you that you are not your habits. Rather, your habits and addictions are the result of simple brain wiring that is easily reversed.

An approach most have heard, but forgot to apply..
Revisado: 11-29-16
I have heard some of these points in that movie "What the bleep do we know". However Amy puts it in a way that seems to have her own voice, but can feel believable because she isn't the only one stating it. Our habits, our brain and how we perceive our life comes up in this book. Makes you take a long hard look at what you can actually do and not do. I like the fact of not really having to do anything with my habit...goals, steps, checklists...none of that matters. Not even falling off the wagon matters. Just read this, you're bound to get some insight from it. That is the first step....INSIGHT.

Historia
Fifteen million Americans a year are plagued with alcoholism. Five million of them are women. Many of them, like Caroline Knapp, started in their early teens and began to use alcohol as "liquid armor", a way to protect themselves against the difficult realities of life. In this extraordinarily candid and revealing memoir, Knapp offers important insights not only about alcoholism, but about life itself and how we learn to cope with it.

I am thankful for this book, it put into light all the fears I had around wondering if it was a problem. Whether you're an alcoholic or not, I think this book shows what you can be and all the other alternatives. This book helped me take a nice long look at myself. So grateful it was recommended.

Historia
In the tradition of Cynthia Heimel and Chelsea Handler, and with the boisterous iconoclasm of Amy Sedaris, Julie Klausner's candid and funny debut I Don't Care about Your Band sheds light on the humiliations we endure to find love - and the lessons that can be culled from the wreckage. I Don't Care about Your Band posits that lately the worst guys to date are the ones who seem sensitive. It's the jerks in nice guy clothing, not the players in Ed Hardy, who break the hearts of modern girls.

Funny and relatable
Revisado: 07-14-16
I found a lot of the guys she had in her life resembled the ones that kept showing up in mine. Her depiction of what 20's are like is an exact replica of some of our lives. Moving into the 30's feels remarkably different and towards the end of the book you start to realize this part is natural and all the crap you have gone through is a beautiful piece of the experience. Bravo :)

Resonating
Revisado: 07-08-16
I haven't even finished it yet. I am 2 hours in and I have cried, laughed and pondered some of the very things she points out. The way she felt and the way men "show up" in her life. I feel like many have shown up in the same ways. It makes me wonder how many females actually encounter this, or ignore it cause we are taught its the way things are. Just buy the dang book, its so worth the purchase. To maybe even understand the things you've ignored just to fit it the box. Thanks Jessica, big help for some of us to read your words.

Forces you to think about whats happening
Revisado: 05-11-16
Would you consider the audio edition of The End of Jobs to be better than the print version?
I think both are important. You can listen when you dont have the time, but I am sure its valuable having a copy in print to go back on.
What did you like best about this story?
The best part is that it puts into focus the state of the job status right now. Why so many people feel the same way when it comes to work and wanting more out of life.
Which scene was your favorite?
Not sure I can pin point the exact portion I felt as a favorite. It was just a really good book :)
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Job? You have no Job!
Any additional comments?
I have read soooooo many different books on working for yourself, but his thought process is quite different. Its fresh and makes you brain turn with ideas and confidence. BRAVO! Thank you so much to the author.
