Historia
Following Jane from her childhood as an orphan in Northern England through her experience as a governess at Thornfield Hall, Charlotte Brontë's Gothic classic is an early exploration of women's independence in the mid-19th century and the pervasive societal challenges women had to endure. At Thornfield, Jane meets the complex and mysterious Mr. Rochester, with whom she shares a complicated relationship that ultimately forces her to reconcile the conflicting passions of romantic love and religious piety.

Story was Just OK, Narration was Not Good
Revisado: 02-15-24
This story was just on. It was a subpar prequel story that should have been 8 hours or less. The narration was TERRIBLE. The narrator trying to imitate different voices, especially female voices was AWFUL. The songs were even worse. Monotone spoken word that was supposed to be singing. If this narrator is reading a book, I will read the physical book or e-book instead.

Good Story, Irritating Character and Narrator
Revisado: 11-20-23
Overall, the story was pretty good. James grew on me throughout the story. Beau was irritating throughout. Emma Wilder’s voice is like nails on a chalkboard. I HATED her voice as Beau. It really impacted my view of the story and it took me a long time to finish this book because of how much I hated her voice. I will skip any book that she is narrating moving forward :(

Patronizing Tone
Revisado: 10-18-22
The overall tone of this book is very patronizing. The voice of the narrator was like nails on a chalkboard. This is the first Audible book that I did not finish and that is saying a lot. If you need a motivational weight loss book, find a better book.

The world’s most trusted guide for leaders in transition. Transitions are a critical time for leaders. In fact, most agree that moving into a new role is the biggest challenge a manager will face. While transitions offer a chance to start fresh and make needed changes in an organization, they also place leaders in a position of acute vulnerability. Missteps made during the crucial first three months in a new role can jeopardize or even derail your success.

Useful Book, but Need Paper Copy
Revisado: 05-05-22
This is a good book for anyone starting a new role. Not just leaders. However, to get the full benefits of this book, you need to have a paper copy because the narrator refers to multiple tables and figures through out the book that you will not see if you are only listening to the book.

Revisado: 03-05-22
This books was very insightful. It gives you a good view of happiness, how to achieve it, and how to maintain it throughout your life. The narrator for the Dali Lama conveys his message very well and has a soothing voice. This is a book that I will listen to again.

Apt Title for Intertwined Disasters
Revisado: 06-29-20
Good book. It starts out slow so you have to hang in there until ~Chapter 6, then the story starts to pick up rapidly. The title is very apt for all of the intertwined disasters that occurred throughout the book. This book is the epitome of “White Privilege” trying to look their nose down at anyone who is not White or is “poor” by certain standards.
The only Richardson family member that I liked was Izzy because she understood everything at a base level and called her family on their BS. She refused to assimilate to their shallow life views and practices. Aside from Izzy, I hated the whole Richardson family for various reasons. The McColloughs, I have no respect for them. Bebe Chang was tragic on so many levels. Read the book and you will see why I say this about The McColloughs and Bebe Chang.
I did not agree with everything that Mia did. However, I could understand where she was coming from in some respects. Mia went against everything her parents wanted for her so they did not help her. Mia’s brother, Warren, loved her until the end although he did not agree with some of her choices as well. Mia’s lack of help from her parents caused her to make some desperate life choices. Pearl, was naive and wanted to be liked/accepted so badly that she allowed herself to be used/exploited by the two older Richardson children, Lexi and Tripp. Pearl was book smart and life stupid.
This book was controversial on so many levels. It will spark strong feelings one way or the other. Definitely worth the read.
