Best Audible book I’ve “read” in years.
Revisado: 02-28-24
I have listened to 754 audible books in the years I’ve subscribed. THIS WAS MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE. I’d love to write Ron and Clint a direct message telling them why. I can’t recommend THE BOYS any more strongly than that. GET IT.

Historia
It's fall 2007. A well-timed leak has revealed that the US government might have engaged in first contact. Cora Sabino is doing everything she can to avoid the whole mess, since the force driving the controversy is her whistleblower father. Even though Cora hasn't spoken to him in years, his celebrity has caught the attention of the press, the internet, the paparazzi, and the government - and with him in hiding, that attention is on her. She neither knows nor cares whether her father's leaks are a hoax and wants nothing to do with him.

In this intimate, beautifully crafted collection, Driver writes and narrates with disarming charm and candor about her bohemian upbringing between England and Barbados; her post-university travails and triumphs—from being the only student in her acting school not taken on by an agent to being discovered at a rave in a muddy field in the English countryside; shooting to fame in one of the most influential films of the 1990s and being nominated for an Academy Award; and finding the true light of her life, her son.

I love it. As an Audible bio, read by the author, the whole book really hits home. The hardest part is to stop anywhere before the end.

Historia
An AI overseer and a human crew arrive on a distant planet to salvage an ancient UN starship. The overseer is unhappy. The crew, well, they're certainly no A-team. Not even a C-team on the best of days. And worse? Urmahon Beta, the planet, is at the ass-end of nowhere. Everybody expects this to be a long, ugly, and thankless job. Then it all goes disastrously wrong. What they thought was an uninhabited backwater turns out to be anything but empty.

Like listening to an old friend.
Revisado: 02-10-21
From Mal Reynolds to Richard Castle to
John Nolan, even though I’m 72, I feel like Nathan Fillion is an old friend. Listening to his intentionally-flat delivery, from the point of view of a now-computer, from start to finish this was a pleasure. As an avid sci-fan I found the story totally holding my attention and my interest. Rather than give away ANYTHING, let me just urge you to GET THIS AUDIBLE BOOK. You will be glad you did.

It's February 1991. Desert Storm is raging in Iraq but 22-year-old Jack has more pressing matters at home. His favorite bar, The Spot, is about to be sold out from under his friend Julio. No longer merely reactive, Jack takes the fight to his enemies and demonstrates his innate talent for seeing biters get bit. With a body count even higher than in Cold City, Dark City hurtles Jack toward the climax of this formative New York odyssey in which all scores will be settled, all debts paid.

Historia
One of the 20th century's most challenging novels of ideas, The Fountainhead champions the cause of individualism through the story of a gifted young architect who defies the tyranny of conventional public opinion. The struggle for personal integrity in a world that values conformity above creativity is powerfully illustrated through three characters: Howard Roarke, a genius; Gail Wynand, a newspaper mogul and self-made millionaire; and Dominique Francon, a devastating beauty.

I Loved It
Revisado: 11-12-12
If you could sum up The Fountainhead in three words, what would they be?
Enthralling, Thoughtprovoking, Recommended
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Fountainhead?
Realizing that it was the predecessor to Atlas Shrugged, which I also loved.
What does Christopher Hurt bring to the story that you wouldn???t experience if you just read the book?
Great narration. Excellent with different voices for different characters, one who sounds just like George Takei (Sulu from Star Trek).
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Sorry, I loved the whole thing.
Any additional comments?

LOVED IT
Revisado: 08-06-12
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, entertaining, well read, attention holding. It's the kind of stuff I really like.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Can't remember. Finished it a couple of weeks ago.
Which character ??? as performed by Wil Wheaton ??? was your favorite?
I'd listen again just to hear Wil. He's an excellent narrator, even for someone who's mom was a Starfleet doctor and who's usually nasty to Sheldon.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Help, I'm stuck in a sci-fi show.
Any additional comments?
I'll get anything else written by this author and/or narrated by Wil Wheaton.
