One of my favorite books and narrators
Revisado: 02-24-25
The story has Jules and mystery and Whitt and whimsy Lord Peter and Buter and Harriet at all characters. I’ve come to know in love. I’ve listened to this book time again and always find it entertaining.

Historia
Though American by birth, Frances Wynn, the now-widowed Countess of Harleigh, has adapted admirably to the quirks and traditions of the British aristocracy. On August 12th, each year, otherwise known as the Glorious Twelfth, most members of the upper class retire to their country estates for grouse-shooting season. Frances has little interest in hunting - or birds or a second husband - and is expecting to spend a quiet few months in London with her almost-engaged sister, Lily, until the throng returns.

Charming, magical, romantic tale
Revisado: 09-17-19
I enjoyed the audiobook: Apple Boy, Isobel Staling’s fantasy tale of magic and gay romance. I found her writing and characters engaging, the story well paced, as was the excellent narration of Gary Furlong.
I am generally not a fan of fantasy, however, this book did draw me into the its fantastic Empire.
The hero, Winter Aelings character was fun, carrying on his upperclass entitlement even in his fall from grace at the story start. However, he is well balanced by the handsome country lad Adam - whose down to earth attitude and virginal charm are a good match for Winter’s boyish naughtiness.
Among the myriad of colorful charters you meet in this adventure, I particularly enjoyed the elderly love-bird lawyers who appear later in the tale. The magic that happens resulting from the chemistry of the two young men is exciting in more ways than one.

John Eagletalon had no idea what the government intended when it assigned him to its latest secret project - an icy blonde beauty with a miraculous ability. Historia
Nearly six hundred years ago, a short, genial, cannily alert man in his late 30s took a very old manuscript off a library shelf, saw with excitement what he had discovered, and ordered that it be copied. That book was the last surviving manuscript of an ancient Roman philosophical epic by Lucretius—a beautiful poem containing the most dangerous ideas: that the universe functioned without the aid of gods, that religious fear was damaging to human life, and that matter was made up of very small particles.

This book is a jewel, the narration is a diamond!
Revisado: 01-14-13
If you could sum up The Swerve in three words, what would they be?
This is a fascinating and serendipitous tapestry of history and storytelling, garnished with interesting and intriguing details.
What did you like best about this story?
Indeed, it has made me interested in more books like this, and books by this author, and this narrator.
Have you listened to any of Edoardo Ballerini’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
By following and focusing centrally on the story of one intriguing book/scroll and mainly one specific person, the book finder...he embroiders history and details weaving them to a exquisite tapestry as a whole.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Absolutely nothing was wrong, this was a flawless narration!
Any additional comments?
Edoardo Ballerini’s narration of The Sweve is so beautifully articulated, so melodious and intelligently faceted, it is like listening to a diamond!
