Historia
In the summer of 1974 a heatwave blankets Boston and Mary Pat Fennessey is trying to stay one step ahead of the bill collectors. Mary Pat has lived her entire life in the projects of “Southie,” the Irish American enclave that stubbornly adheres to tradition and stands proudly apart. One night Mary Pat’s teenage daughter Jules stays out late and doesn’t come home. That same evening, a young Black man is found dead, struck by a subway train under mysterious circumstances. Mary Pat, propelled by a desperate search for her daughter, begins turning over stones best left untouched.

Lehane is a great writer
Revisado: 10-28-23
There is no doubt about it, the in your face racism is hard to take, Mary Pat is a one in a million character plus they did not screw up Boston accents as many actors do

Wow
Revisado: 10-28-23
I read because it was on Pres Obama reading list. It was upsetting, realistic and painful look at taco and poverty but it is still a great story, I cried over some deaths. NOT for the squimish…. Very very graphic killings… as they say… Recommended for Mature Audiences Only

Historia
Sam Johnstone was hoping for renewal when he took a job at a boutique law firm in rustic Wyoming. The mountains and streams of the West would be a refreshing, quiet place to start over after years of war and turmoil in his personal life. But after a local woman is brutally murdered, Sam realizes that things aren’t so quiet in this rural American town. The accused is one Tommy Olsen, a known delinquent who had been sleeping with the victim. Sam is repulsed by the crime and wants nothing to do with the case but meets with Tommy to make sure he has legal representation.

Boring even if you love legal drama
Revisado: 10-28-23
Overly long discussion of evidence, juries, proof beyond a reasonable doubt!
Literally stuff you knew after 2 episodes of Law and Order! Not recommended

Historia
Maya was a high school senior when her best friend, Aubrey, dropped dead in front of the enigmatic man named Frank whom they’d been spending time with all summer. Seven years later, Maya lives in Boston with a loving boyfriend and is kicking the secret addiction that has allowed her to cope with what happened years ago, the gaps in her memories, and the lost time that she can’t account for. But her past comes rushing back when she comes across a recent YouTube video in which a young woman suddenly keels over and dies in a diner while sitting across from none other than Frank.

Another bad review
Revisado: 06-02-23
I thought it would never end and there is nothing worse you can say about a book. I did not like the reader either
Listening in my car to the final 14 min and when it ended I’d said thank God out loud… story was slow definitely NOT a thriller.

Historia
Set in the mountains of southern Appalachia, Demon Copperhead is the story of a boy born to a teenaged single mother in a single-wide trailer, with no assets beyond his dead father’s good looks and copper-colored hair, a caustic wit, and a fierce talent for survival. Relayed in his own unsparing voice, Demon braves the modern perils of foster care, child labor, derelict schools, athletic success, addiction, disastrous loves, and crushing losses.

Literally the best
Revisado: 03-26-23
I had no idea what I was getting into here and before long I was taking my dog on walk’s just so I could have my earbuds in listening. Demon’s descriptions of addiction and recovery were almost too real. Oh how I loved every character, also the reader with his perfect accent…. All spot on. I’ve listened to hundreds of books and this my first review!

Historia
It’s spring in the tiny town of Damariscotta, a tourist haven on the coast of Maine known for its oysters and antiques. Andrew, a high school English teacher recently returned to the area, has brought his family to Ed and Steph Thatch’s sprawling riverside estate to attend a reception for the Amherst women’s lacrosse team. Back when they were all teenagers, Andrew never could have predicted that Ed, descended from a long line of lobstermen, or Steph, a decent student until she dropped out to start a family, would ever send a daughter to a place like Amherst.

Good assassin story with some believable politics thrown in.... but preachy at the end... authors should quit while they’re ahead
