Historia
Eight-year-old orphan Beth Harmon is quiet, sullen, and by all appearances unremarkable. That is, until she plays her first game of chess. Her senses grow sharper, her thinking clearer, and for the first time in her life she feels herself fully in control. By the age of 16, she's competing for the US Open championship. But as Beth hones her skills on the professional circuit, the stakes get higher, her isolation grows more frightening, and the thought of escape becomes all the more tempting.

Wonderful!

A wonderful book and narrated perfectly. Ever since I listened to The Help on Audible, I have searched for another book I could give a perfect rating-this is it.

Excellent story, except for the last chapter.
Revisado: 11-07-18
Having High-functioning autism myself along with my partner, we had a lot of fun listening to the book.
I would have given the book a 5 for the story, except for the last chapter, which leaves a lot of people on the spectrum annoyed, and the main character who is a lovely character and relatable all through, becomes a jerk.

This book reminded me of The Little Prince.
I fell in love with the characters.
It reminds me of The Life of Pi too.
Heartwarming and heartbreaking.

Historia
With courage, grace, and powerful insight, bestselling author Kristin Hannah captures the epic panorama of World War II and illuminates an intimate part of history seldom seen: the women's war. The Nightingale tells the stories of two sisters, separated by years and experience, by ideals, passion and circumstance, each embarking on her own dangerous path toward survival, love, and freedom in German-occupied, war-torn France—a heartbreakingly beautiful novel that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the durability of women. It is a novel for everyone, a novel for a lifetime.

I loved this book. It was engaging all the way through. It did such a good job of historical fiction that it inspired me to leave more about ww2.

Sweet enduring inserting story
Revisado: 01-29-16
This is a gem. A feel good story and the book makes you look at math philosophically.
This would be one of my top books and it is the type of book that reminds me of Bel Canto in the way you fall in love with the interesting characters
