If you could sum up The Time of Our Lives in three words, what would they be?

Tom Brokaw! A great story teller

What was the most compelling aspect of this narrative?

A sane voice in these days of the 24 hour new cycle

The Invisible Woman

I loved this novel for its rare protagonist, the invisible woman. This story is about what at least 50% of us will become at some time in the future; an elderly woman. Emily is adaptable to the changes occurring in her life, and makes the best of them. Nothing earthshaking happens, just like in real life. The tedium and the risks, of her life are given equal time. Many pages are devoted to one sided conversations between Emily and Rufus her aging springer spaniel...... thankfully the dog does not die, he soldiers on just like Emily.

I just finished this book. After reading most of the reviews so far, I am amazed that no one "gets it". There is no ending. The events in this story go on repeating themselves over and over. The rich get richer. The back room plotting and fixing that determine the candidate, his platform, and to whom he will appeal go on, bolstered by the 24 hour news cycle. Good people are harmed, some are compensated, all must cope. It is called life. This is the first review I have submitted.

Preachy

This is a nice story, about a nice little boy. I am confused as to wether. it was written for a young audience. At times it had a very heavy religous preachy attitude. I enjoyed it despite the ending. (And the preaching)

I read this novel almost straight through without stopping. I am now attempting to get a copy of "Plainsong", to see what may have come before. It was hard to leave these folks, at the various stages in their lives. There is ample material for a sequel(s).
I enjoyed the background descriptions of the settings and of life on the plaines. The narrator, George Hearn, was a great match for this story .
