Historia
Intelligence is usually seen as the ability to think and learn, but in a rapidly changing world, there's another set of cognitive skills that might matter more: the ability to rethink and unlearn. In recent months, the pandemic has forced us all to reevaluate our assumptions about health and safety and multiple acts of police brutality have challenged most of us to reconsider our responsibility for fighting racism. Yet in our daily lives, too many of us still favor the comfort of conviction over the discomfort of doubt.

How to do the most important thing
Revisado: 10-08-24
Fundamental to moral clarity and effective action is a commitment to seeing the world as it truly is. Adam Grant describes the practices we need to meet this commitment. Coherent, digestible, and entertaining, AG compiles the science into a program for insight that is sorely needed by all us short-sighted people in a myopic world.

Historia
The most translated book in the world after the Bible, the Tao Te Ching, or “Book of the Tao,” is a guide to cultivating a life of peace, serenity, and compassion. Through aphorisms and parable, it leads readers toward the Tao, or the “Way”: harmony with the life force of the universe. Traditionally attributed to Lao-tzu, a Chinese philosopher thought to have been a contemporary of Confucius, it is the essential text of Taoism, one of the three major religions of ancient China.

Bewildered which I suppose is the point
Revisado: 06-11-24
I knew quite a few things before I started. I know less after, but still a few things, so I guess I’ll have to read it again.
The format of this version is newbie friendly - a solid intro with just the right amount of historical context, a digestible text of Tao bite, each followed by selected commentaries - eases us in. If you’re looking to familiarise yourself with this classic, I recommend starting with this edition.

Making it relevant
Revisado: 03-26-24
My favourite book of the Stoic revival so far. A remedy to the narrow readings of the more popular books (many of which I like), Sherman offers a broader and deeper survey of Stoicism than commonly presented, mining the rich veins for principles relevant to our modern social commitments, and honestly calling it when the seams are exhausted. Learned, considered, ra-ra free. Read this one.
