Historia
For a century, the Panama Canal has served as the path between the seas. Control of this vital waterway is the difference between free trade and chaos in world markets. So when Panamanian President Rafael Botero asks for a show of support against the socialist opposition, his old friend President Jack Ryan can’t turn down an invitation to visit the country, but what seems like an ordinary opportunity to preach the values of democracy quickly turns into a nightmare when a full-blown coup d’état erupts.

Revisado: 02-22-24
Brick does an amazing job...as always withe the narration. He draws us in and makes the story come to life.
We get to see Chilli from the Abilene PD face a hard decision and Mandy Cobb learn about secrets in her family. Jack is more prominent in this volume than Jr.
Shout out to the Perini Ranch Steakhouse in Buffalo Gap TX! Gotta love the amount of detail from real world places this author brings to every story.

Historia
One small handwritten letter, sent from a dark, remote corner of the planet and lost in the system for 60 years, is about to change the entire human race. Outside Denver, Colorado, Joe Rickards stands over a small aircraft wreckage, studying burnt remains still smoldering in a field of freshly fallen snow. He's an investigator for the NTSB, working to carefully roll back the last several hours and identify the cause of the accident. But this time, he can't.

Intriguing & Inspiring
Revisado: 07-31-22
I was hook from the first chapter. Michael does a fabulous job at developing the characters while keeping the storyline moving. And Brick...the best narrator.
Binged on this over the weekend. It was a nice change from the Mitch Rapp and Jack Ryan Jr. theme I have been on for a while.

Historia
When Mitch Rapp captures ISIS’s top technology expert, he reveals that he was on his way to meet a man who claims to have the ability to bring down America’s power grid. Rapp is determined to eliminate this shadowy figure, but the CIA’s trap fails. The Agency is still trying to determine what went wrong when ISIS operatives help this cyber terrorist do what he said he could — plunge the country into darkness. With no concept of how this unprecedented act was accomplished, the task of getting the power back on could take months. Perhaps even years.

Plausible, but poorly done
Revisado: 06-19-22
Of the 19 Mitch Rapp books I have listened to, this is the largest disappointment. Narrator is amazing as always, but the new author swung and missed. He clearly researched electrical power grids but not heart rate monitors. The climax scene was extremely amateur.

Best of the Jack Ryan Jr series so far.
Scott Brick does an awesome job narrating.
Only problem is that the story is so good that I listened straight through. Gotta wait a few months now for my next JR Jr book.

Historia
Ronald Reagan today is a conservative icon, celebrated for transforming the American domestic agenda and playing a crucial part in ending communism in the Soviet Union. In his masterful new biography, H. W. Brands argues that Reagan, along with FDR, was the most consequential president of the 20th century. Reagan took office at a time when the public sector, after a half century of New Deal liberalism, was widely perceived as bloated and inefficient, an impediment to personal liberty.

Strong Biography - Terrible Narration

Listening to this has been painful. The narrator is obviously all about himself and not about conveying the story to the listener.

Historia
There are lots of books that offer advice on how to start a company – but the vast majority are wrong. As Enterprise Editor for the Financial Times, Jonathan Moules has profiled hundreds of companies and their owners. Here, he uses this knowledge to explain why, in many cases, the received wisdom on entrepreneurship isn’t necessarily the best way of achieving success.

Several Examples, Little New Insight
Revisado: 08-15-12
Would you try another book from Jonathan Moules and/or Nigel Pilkington?
Jonathan has a gift for observing those around him, distilling down their strategies and documenting the results. I would read more of his work.
What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?
As one who reads (listens) widely in the area of business, especially startup business...it was a welcome change to hear examples of successful startups that were founded OUTSIDE of silicon valley. Nigel does a very good job of showing how these entrepreneurs on the other side of the globe:1. Have created all together new business concepts that take advantage of inefficiencies in their local markets.2. Have taken services and products pioneered in American and localized them for their markets.
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
The narrator was interesting and was effective at reading this story, which is written as a first-hand account of findings.
Any additional comments?
It is best that future readers understand this book is more a product of a journalist than a veteran business leader.
