Historia
On the eve of his 90th birthday, a bachelor decides to give himself a wild night of love with a virgin. As is his habit - he has purchased hundreds of women - he asks a madam for her assistance. The 14-year-old girl who is procured for him is enchanting, but exhausted as she is from caring for siblings and her job sewing buttons, she can do little but sleep. Yet with this sleeping beauty at his side, it is he who awakens to a romance he has never known. Tender, knowing, and slyly comic, Memories of My Melancholy Whores is an exquisite addition to a master's work.

Great narration of a highly enjoyable story. Wonderful prose, Marques is a classic. I have read three of his books and thoroughly enjoyed each one.

Historia
In the enchanted kingdom of Brooklyn, the fashionable people put on cute shoes, go to parties in warehouses, drink on rooftops at sunset, and tell themselves they've arrived. A whole lot of Brooklyn is like that now - but not Vassa's working-class neighborhood. In Vassa's neighborhood, where she lives with her stepmother and bickering stepsisters, one might stumble onto magic, but stumbling out again could become an issue.

At some points the fantasy aspects of this book seemed too much, but when I got to almost the end, it all came together quite nicely. This book had good meaning and deep plot line. The theme was dark, but relevant. Overall, good read!

An interesting twist on history. It was a delightful listen. The narrator was impeccable with her accents and brought the characters to life and made them easily discernible.

Parenting advice isn't hard to find. There are thousands of books on the subject, as well as a multitude of websites. Much has also been written on the science of child development. What's been lacking, however, are sources of reliable advice that bring together the scientific research and its real-world applications.

This is the second course that I have listened to by Dr. Vishton. He is knowledgeable and engaging.
