I was expecting a lot worse.
Revisado: 06-21-23
The way a lot of the reviewers thought it was the worst thing in the world, I thought it was going to be gratuitous. It wasn’t really, the world is harsh. Good writing and I thought were separate stories, ending up connecting. I liked it!

My only real critique of this book, is some of the dialogue was super corny. For example the whole onions has layers part. Can we all give that back to Shrek now? Overall I liked it.

Historia
Buckhead isn’t a place you live, it’s a place you survive. And that applies even to the wealthy housewives that have it all. Fancy cars, designer clothes, and daily salon appointments aren’t nearly enough to keep them fulfilled and happy. Because in this town, privilege and opulence go hand in hand with betrayal and revenge. Jenny, the owner of Glow, an exclusive membership-only beauty salon, knows that better than anyone, because she knows everything about these housewives—down to each individual strand of hair.

New girl Rachel Chavez turns to horror movies for comfort, preferring stabby serial killers and homicidal dolls to the bored rich kids of Manhattan Prep...and to certain memories she’d preferred to keep buried. I thought it was basically Scream with a much better plot. I loved the Mary Shelly aspect of it. Not original but repurposed, like I said it was good.

Historia
After moving from a small country town to Seattle, Heather Baxter marries Tom, a widowed doctor with a young son and teenage daughter. A working vacation overseas seems like the perfect way to bring the new family together, but once they’re deep in the Australian outback, the jet-lagged and exhausted kids are so over their new mom. When they discover remote Dutch Island, off-limits to outside visitors, the family talks their way onto the ferry. But as soon as they set foot on the island, which is run by a tightly knit clan of locals, everything feels wrong.

I enjoyed this book very much. The characters played their roles perfectly. The voices between characters were flawless. I didn’t understand bringing I. The best friend at times in the book. She didn’t make a difference, so including her seemed unnecessary. Overall I enjoyed it very much and planning on listening to more books by this Author.

Nanao, nicknamed Ladybug - the self-proclaimed “unluckiest assassin in the world” - boards a bullet train from Tokyo to Morioka with one simple task: Grab a suitcase and get off at the next stop. Unbeknownst to him, the deadly duo Tangerine and Lemon are also after the very same suitcase - and they are not the only dangerous passengers onboard. Satoshi, “the Prince”, with the looks of an innocent schoolboy and the mind of a viciously cunning psychopath, is also in the mix and has history with some of the others.

I’m so excited to see Brad Pitt play the Ladybug. This was wild, although I was expecting it be a lot more bloody. The Author instead gave us a great story and background on the players. The Prince made my skin crawl, whoa! Awesome book!

Beautiful story
Revisado: 08-16-21
I read the description and found it intriguing. A book about a hit man on his last job. Things go wrong, heard it before. I like those books but if you read one you’ve read them all. The intriguing part is this one is written by Stephan King. What I read was a human story, something I can identify with. Stephan King captures emotions and the language of the times better than any Author I’ve read. Billy felt like the character Barry from an HBO show named Barry. A regular combat sniper, that’s really good at killing. Becomes hired killer but also finds another passion. Barry’s is acting, Billy’s is writing. Same character almost. This what sucked me in , Billy genuinely cared for people. Hearing his story of how he came to be was what makes this book so awesome.

Historia
Ike Randolph has been out of jail for fifteen years, with not so much as a speeding ticket in all that time. But a Black man with cops at the door knows to be afraid. The last thing he expects to hear is that his son Isiah has been murdered, along with Isiah’s white husband, Derek. Ike had never fully accepted his son but is devastated by his loss. Derek’s father Buddy Lee was almost as ashamed of Derek for being gay as Derek was ashamed his father was a criminal. Buddy Lee still has contacts in the underworld, though, and he wants to know who killed his boy.

Revisado: 07-18-21
I am 43 year old father of 6. Three of those children are adults. This book was very emotional for me. I’ve always accepted and will continue to accept and respect my child’s lifestyle. It’s very important for me to have raised them with love , respect and tolerance for things we may not understand. I was questioning my self while listening to this novel. The conversations in this book need to always take place in real life. I highly recommend this book, the narration was on point!
