Historia
Published in 2008, Massacre at Mountain Meadows was a bombshell of a book, revealing the story of one of the grimmest episodes in Latter-day Saint history, when settlers in southwestern Utah slaughtered more than 100 members of a California-bound wagon train in 1857. In this much-anticipated sequel, Richard E. Turley Jr. and Barbara Jones Brown examine the aftermath of this atrocity. Vengeance Is Mine documents southern Utah leaders’ attempts to cover up their crime by silencing witnesses and spreading lies.

Narration was excellent
Revisado: 07-27-23
I've listened to a lot of books on Audible and the narrator on this one was exceptional! At the end he states that he is a member of SAG. It definitely shined through. He had a separate voice for all of the characters and delivered them in an old timey 1800's voice that you will appreciate.
As far as the book goes, it is very well researched and tells the story in a way that is never dry and keeps the readers attention.

Historia
On September 11, 2018, Navy SEAL Chief Edward Gallagher - a highly-decorated combat veteran with nine deployments to war zones in Africa, Afghanistan, and Iraq - was arrested for war crimes at the TBI medical clinic where he was receiving treatment. His incarceration was the culmination of a year-long whisper campaign started by a group of disgruntled members of his SEAL platoon. While heavily covered in the media, the full story of how a war hero was railroaded and nearly sent to prison for life for crimes he didn't commit has never been told.

Historia
I’ve been in this life for fifty years, been trying to work out its riddle for forty-two, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last thirty-five. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me. Recently, I worked up the courage to sit down with those diaries.

Historia
In 2014, Theranos founder and CEO Elizabeth Holmes was widely seen as the next Steve Jobs: a brilliant Stanford dropout whose startup “unicorn” promised to revolutionize the medical industry with its breakthrough device, which performed the whole range of laboratory tests from a single drop of blood. Backed by investors such as Larry Ellison and Tim Draper, Theranos sold shares in a fundraising round that valued the company at more than $9 billion, putting Holmes’s worth at an estimated $4.5 billion.

Enthralling true story
Revisado: 11-03-18
This was an audible recommended book and I thought I would give it a go since I had a bunch of credits backed up. I'm an only non fiction guy and this book was one of the few books that I couldn't turn off. Amazing story that you can't hardly believe.

Historia
This concluding volume recounts the second half of Elvis' life in rich and previously unimagined detail, and confirms Guralnick's status as one of the great biographers of our time. Beginning with Presley's army service in Germany in 1958 and ending with his death in Memphis in 1977, Careless Love chronicles the unraveling of the dream that once shone so brightly, homing in on the complex playing-out of Elvis' relationship with his Machiavellian manager, Colonel Tom Parker.

Great follow on to the book that takes you up to Elvis heading off with the army. Tragic story that happens way too often with celebrities. People have a hard time telling them no.

Historia
In a fit of idealism, Ed Boland left a 20-year career as a non-profit executive to teach in a tough New York City public high school. But his hopes quickly collided headlong with the appalling reality of his students' lives and a hobbled education system unable to help them. Freddy runs a drug ring for his incarcerated brother; Nee-cole is homeschooled on the subway by her brilliant homeless mother; Byron's Ivy League dream is dashed because he is undocumented. In the end, Boland isn't hoisted on his students' shoulders and no one passes AP anything.

Pretty good until the end
Revisado: 04-16-16
The story was fairly compelling. I admire Ed Boland for doing what he did, but I kind of disagree with his conclusions and epilogue. He called it himself left wing fluff and it's true. I blame the parents and most of all the culture. I've heard and read on many occasions that minorities, mostly blacks and some Latinos look down on and punish their peers that perform well in school. They call them Uncle Tom's, etc and accuse them of trying to be white. Until that changes, there is little hope. The culture rewards those kids that speak in ebonics and act like gangsters. It's not cool to be good at school.

Revisado: 03-14-16
This is one of the best Audible titles I have listened to. Not only is Shirer a great writer and journalist/historian, Grover Gardner is excellent in his reading of this book. I was extremely impressed with his pronunciation of the German language when he needed to be. He also made the story of Nazi Germany come to life when so many historical books are dry and boring. Do not be daunted by the 57 hours. It flew by and I wished it were longer!

Historia
Why is it that so many efforts by liberals to lift the Black underclass not only fail, but often harm the intended beneficiaries? In Please Stop Helping Us, Jason L. Riley examines how well-intentioned welfare programs are in fact holding Black Americans back. Minimum-wage laws may lift earnings for people who are already employed, but they price a disproportionate number of Blacks out of the labor force. Affirmative action in higher education is intended to address past discrimination, but the result is fewer Black college graduates than would otherwise exist.

Spot on. The author uses real facts to back up his argument. I wish everyone would listen to this book. Especially all of those race baitors out there.
