I am so confused and heartbroken
Revisado: 11-13-21
I spent so much of this book confused. much of it, yes, was in excitement and joy, but the ending of this has me scratching my head. I love this series and I understand it to be too slow for some but I've loved this story from book 1. however I don't know what it is with the past 2 books. I am so confused and needing more than what this "final book" gave us.
maybe there will be a new series that branches from this one, but it cannot stop here. like, it just can't. do I regret getting this book? No. Will I read it again? Absolutely. Will I still be confused and heart broken at the end if it? you betcha.

still pretty good
Revisado: 07-09-21
I'm still enjoying this series. the story line really lead you up the roller coaster for most of the story and then did a drastic decline real quick. the story was over before I even knew it. I'm happy to see what the last book has to offer.

Historia
For a thousand years the ash fell and no flowers bloomed. For a thousand years the Skaa slaved in misery and lived in fear. For a thousand years the Lord Ruler, the "Sliver of Infinity," reigned with absolute power and ultimate terror, divinely invincible. Then, when hope was so long lost that not even its memory remained, a terribly scarred, heart-broken half-Skaa rediscovered it in the depths of the Lord Ruler's most hellish prison.

Took me a few chapters
Revisado: 06-08-21
This story took me a bit to actually get into. I think the first 3 chapters took me almost 3 days to get through. once our main lady was with the group of the story it got much better. I can't lie. the narrator was a bit draggy but by the time the story got really good I didn't notice it yet. it was actually nice to have a more stable voice to explain the complexities of this story. A really good book, can't wait to read the next ones

Will her talent as a reader suffice to avoid being lured into a deadly trap by her ever more fearful adversaries? Will she ever see Thorn, her betrothed, again?

Historia
Plain-spoken, headstrong Ophelia cares little about appearances. Her ability to read the past of objects is unmatched in all of Anima, and, what’s more, she possesses the ability to travel through mirrors, a skill passed down to her from previous generations. Her idyllic life is disrupted, however, when she is promised in marriage to Thorn, a taciturn and influential member of a distant clan. She must leave all she knows behind and follow her fiancé to Citaceleste, the capital of a cold, icy ark known as the Pole, where danger lurks around every corner and nobody can be trusted.

Great story, horrible editing!
Revisado: 05-13-21
this story is slow, it really is. with it being a series in mind, you can't give up too much too soon. while it might be too slow for some, I appreciate the details in scenery and character development, even if it's not our main characters. I think some come in thinking this is a normal enemies to lovers story, but this story comes about it from an entirely different angle which is refreshing. Some just should know that before reading. once we get through some of the more dull parts, the story really starts to bloom and get interesting. I think the main lead is brilliant despite her quietness and we get to see her start to change towards the end of this first book. our main male lead is starting to leave little flutters in my heart.
with the story out of the way, the narration was so good. she did an amazing job keeping her characters organized and it was like I was listening to a movie instead of someone just reading dialog. however, whoever did the editing of this performance should be fired! there were too many pauses, repeated lines, messed up sentences and weird volume changes left in this. the narrator couldn't have had anything to do with this, but this reason is the only one I had to take off one star. From all the audio books I've listened to, I've never heard one with mistakes left in like this performance. I hope in the next book, the narrator's amazing performance isn't messed up like this one.
but the story was SO GOOD that I will be getting it regardless. even considering buying more credits to get it. I even want to buy the physical book now!
it truly is a good story, give it a shot.

the story was keeping me going
Revisado: 05-07-21
The story here was just intriguing enough to keep me going. The narration however was very monotoned and lacked the emotion or subtle speaking actions of the characters. everything was so flat and slow. I took someone's advice about speeding up the pace and it helped a bit. All in all it was just fine in my opinion, nice small twist at the end but I found most of it to be relatively predictable

Beautifully breathtaking
Revisado: 04-24-21
I loved this. I didn't really want to because of the hype of it, but it really was so good. my heart feels light and content with the ending while still wishing there was more to the story. I feel in love with all the characters. a couple of the negative reviews I've seen said : not enough dialouge, I didn't mind the amount that was there. that the backstories should have been more balanced, I wanted more of Henry's story and found myself not caring as much about Addies story until towards the end. that the story was too long, I don't think it was long enough. beautiful and I will be reading again

where are my tears?
Revisado: 04-19-21
I saw people raving about this story saying it brought them to tears but idk where mine are. the story is okay but I didn't get much from this story. the story line was pretty level the whole way. I didn't find myself feeling any other emotion other than eh the whole way through. at least I can say I got through it though but I think I won't listen to this story again unless I have absolutely nothing to listen to

It's okay....?
Revisado: 03-24-21
I am so confused as to how I really feel about this story. I love anything Persephone and Hades so I thought that I would love this. The story is pretty good and interesting, the love scenes are a good amount of spicy and the narrator sounds like she was really getting into them. The language that was used seemed to be recycled too much. a lot of phrases and key words were used so many times but I am not sure if on purpose or not. I didn't like the narrators readings of the men. they all sounded the same, raspy and I can't help imagine them doing a smolder face when they talk. The BFF in the story Lexa was so annoying to listen to. she sounded like Alexis Rose but worse and I hated her. All in all it was just okay, but I don't think I'll listen to the next one or ever listen to this one again... but who knows. I can't always resist a Hades and Persephone story line

He's not that bad!
Revisado: 02-25-21
I read so many reviews dissing the male narrator. I have to admit that in the beginning I was wondering why he sounded like that. now, after reading the first book I was relieved to see he narrated the 2nd one. he actually has great passion and emotion when he reads the dialog and honestly, him reading the girls lines just made me envision them as drag queens which brought me much joy. the female narrator was superb in every way and her French is gorgeous. I liked this book way more than I thought I would. I'm already listening to the 2nd one now. and I'm excited for the 3rd already. thanks tik tok for the referral. I'll also be listening to these books again
