Historia
Jack Reacher wakes up alone, in the dark, handcuffed to a makeshift bed. His right arm has suffered some major damage. His few possessions are gone. He has no memory of getting there. The last thing Reacher can recall is the car he hitched a ride in getting run off the road. The driver was killed. His captors assume Reacher was the driver’s accomplice and patch up his wounds as they plan to make him talk. A plan that will backfire spectacularly . . .

Is Reacher getting tired?
Revisado: 11-16-24
I’ve read or listened to every Reacher book. This is my least favorite. The story is too convoluted but hackneyed. Reacher doesn’t know how he got tied up in the beginning and neither do we by the end of the book but who cares? The new writing partnership may need more insight into the plot and characters and a more editing to get Reacher and us, the fans, back on track. Of course Scott Brick is an A+ narrator.

Pragmatic advice in a sea of misinformation

The topic is a bit dry but the real life stories gave it life and relevance. Excellent narration. A must read for all public health students and everyday people.

Historia
There have always been whispers. Legends. The warrior who cannot be killed. Who’s seen a thousand civilizations rise and fall. He has had many names: Unute, Child of Lightning, Death himself. These days, he’s known simply as “B.” And he wants to be able to die. In the present day, a U.S. black-ops group has promised him they can help with that. And all he needs to do is help them in return. But when an all-too-mortal soldier comes back to life, the impossible event ultimately points toward a force even more mysterious than B himself. One at least as strong. And one with a plan all its own.

A Very Interesting Tale
Revisado: 08-28-24
I didn’t know what to think of a book co written by an action movie star and a syfy author. A story spanning 80,000 years! The main character B reminds me of another immortal Glaeken from F.Paul Wilson’s Secret History, another great story. It is slow to start but it genuinely draws in the reader with a satisfying ending of book 1.

Historia
A Navy captain near the end of a decorated career, Stephen Rensselaer is disciplined, intelligent, and determined always to do what’s right. In defending the development of a new variant of warship, he makes an enemy of the president of the United States, who assigns him to command the doomed line’s only prototype—Athena, Patrol Coastal 15—with the intent to humiliate a man who should have been an admiral. Rather than resign, Rensselaer takes the new assignment in stride.

Wonderful Story
Revisado: 07-30-24
This my first book by Mark Helprin. Wonderful story of the sea, battles, petty politics and an absorbing trial. The narrator reads clearly and well and keeps the reader involved. A different kind of story and well worth your time.

Historia
Dr. Tyson Klein is a quantum physicist who has dedicated his entire life to his research. At CERN, he analyses data generated by the Large Hadron Collider, the world's biggest and most powerful particle accelerator. Now, Ty believes he's found a pattern in its output. It looks like an organised data stream, being broadcast over what he calls a quantum radio. Could it be a signal from another universe? A message sent from the future? Or something else entirely?

Revisado: 06-27-24
I’m a fan of agreement Riddle having just completed the Lost Colony which was fantastic. I didn’t like the main character and the story went down a fork that was uninteresting to me. Will not read the next book in the series.

Incredible series
Revisado: 06-15-24
I very enjoyed the first 2 books in the series. Excellent narrators. But it is rare to read a book that just blows your mind when you learn the origin of the Grid. Almost fell off my chair. Great story. Would be an interesting cable series.

Historia
1992. All across the United States respectable, upstanding citizens are showing up dead. These deaths could be accidents, and they don’t appear to be connected—until a fatal fall from a high-floor window attracts some unexpected attention. That attention comes from the secretary of defense. All of a sudden he wants an interagency task force to investigate. And he wants Jack Reacher as the army’s representative. If Reacher gets a result, great. If not, he’s a convenient fall guy.

A Very Early Reacher
Revisado: 12-19-23
An early story but missing the gravitas of a current Reacher tale. It didn’t add to his backstory. Other books have done it better and I have read or listened to all of them. Hopefully the next Reacher book will meet expectations.

Historia
When Michael Lewis first met him, Sam Bankman-Fried was the world’s youngest billionaire and crypto’s Gatsby. CEOs, celebrities, and leaders of small countries all vied for his time and cash after he catapulted, practically overnight, onto the Forbes billionaire list. Who was this rumpled guy in cargo shorts and limp white socks, whose eyes twitched across Zoom meetings as he played video games on the side?

A fascinating story told well by Michael Lewis. The problem is that he released the book before the full story was available. Perhaps Part 2 will be the trial and aftermath.

Historia
In the war-ravaged borderlands of Ukraine, a Russian mercenary unit has gone rogue. Its members, conscripted from the worst prisons and mental asylums across Russia, are the most criminally violent, psychologically dangerous combatants to ever set foot upon the modern battlefield. With all attention focused on the frontlines, they have pushed deeper into the interior to wage a campaign of unspeakable barbarity. As they move from village to village, committing horrific war crimes, they meet little resistance as all able-bodied men are off fighting the war.

Revisado: 07-01-23
I read the 1st and 2nd in the series and couldn’t get into the 3rd. This is almost as good as the first 2 books. Great narration with multiple voices. Very convincing. I liked it a lot.
