Great story, smart enough for a thinking reader [but fix the volume]

The volume was extremely low. I had to switch headphones and turn their volume all the way up
The story was tight, exciting, multi-faceted, long enough to last a good while, and sometimes predictable in a way that made me nervous about what was coming, sooner or later . The characters were memorable and I loved all the spy agencies involved. And then half the book took place close to where I grew up

The narrator had good voices but too often he got the wrong voice or so it seemed to me. That led to confusion sometimes

Wonderful and surprisingly educational

The narrator did an excellent job on the female voices, but stretching her range to perform male voices was a bit of a letdown. Overall, though, I still feel she did a fantastic job. It would be nicer to have a second narrator for the deeper voices.
The expertly written story felt like a combination of biography and fiction, and it truly was. Knowing that the author had thoroughly researched the characters gave an added dimension of reality to the story. I’m a man who has always believed in women’s rights but I never before understood the full extent of their treatment in ancient or modern times
