Maxine Mitchell destroys this story

I haven't finished Nightfall yet, but I'm so annoyed that I have to comment now. The story is good, and I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next. However, it'll be a miracle if I get to the end because the narration is the worst I've ever heard. Maxine reads like she's an old time movie star where everything was so dramatic. She makes the heroine sound completely unbelievable. There are a number of times when Celine is supposed to sound monotone and cold, but Maxine goes right at it with her over the top inflection. The most irritating thing is that she doesn't make the D sound. Any word that ends in D, comes out as a T. Woun-t, instead of wound. Kin-t instead of kind, share-t instead of shared. I thought I was being too picky until I read some reviews of her other narrations . Quite a few people have mentioned Maxine's narration being off the mark. Does Audible read the reviews? I'll never listen to another book that's narrated by Maxine Mitchell and I may have to read the rest of this book rather than continue to listen to it. It's disappointing because she has narrated a lot of books in my favorite genre.

A haunting story

This story is much much more than a romance. It’s a story about lifelong friendships, family, tragedy and love. With every word I was more and more drawn in to all the characters. I can’t recommend it enough, everybody should listen to this story because it’s not just a romance, it’s also a look into the struggles and pain of gay men during the 1980’s.

Excellent right from the start

Family man was too short. I could have listened to this story forever. First, the narration was excellent. Collin Darcy really brought the characters to life. He gave a warmth to Vinny that made the character endearing right from the start. The authors wrote a story that was very realistic and fantastic at the same time. Trey’s situation and emotions are probably a sad reality for many people who have addicted family members. The love that developed between the two men is both hot and tender.

Sexy “Who Done It”

The Long Way Home was excellent. I haven’t come across many murder mystery romances, so this one was a surprise. Lots of intrigue, great characters, hot sex and a “who done it” to boot!

I hope there's a Book 4

I listened to all three books and was hooked from the get go. This is a great love story that revolves around two people who love each other deeply but have to work through differences that may be insurmountable. In the mean time, they are going through things both together and individually that are complicated, heartbreaking and hilarious. Caleb Dickinson's narration was excellent, and made the series so much more fun to listen to.

Into the Light kept me up half the night

The story and character development was really good. The plot twists made it very difficult to turn the book off and go to bed. I was shocked when it ended because I was not aware that it was a 2 part cliff hanger. I need to purchase the 2nd part right away! I wasn't crazy about Erin deWard's narration. I thought that she was trying to make Sarah sound like the vulnerable character that she was, but she made Sarah sound like a little girl. If you don't mind a book that ends abruptly and requires an immediate purchase of another book, I highly recommend this story.

I can't even describe the annoying narration

I could just barely get passed the accent the Veronica Meunch used for Nina. I think she may actually speak like that. She can't pronounce the letter L properly. Shoulders became show-ders, etc. I just listened to two bad narrators in a row, I hope the next one is better.

Narration was annoying

This would have been a much better experience if the narrator didn't use accents that were straight out of a historical novel. The fancy accent really didn't match the image of a gay dominant, Drew sounded like a lord from the 1700's. It got very annoying after a while. But the story itself was good.
