Good but predictable.
Revisado: 04-27-25
Too much poetry, particularly there at the end. Hunger games novela are too easily predictable at this point, so nothing really surprises you.

Historia
The Yellowstone super-eruption has put an end to modern civilization. As cities and countries continue to fall, the colony of Rivendell in the alternate Earth known as Outland looks more and more like the only real hope for humanity. But life in Rivendell isn’t getting any simpler, either. The author seems to be getting more political in his writing.
Revisado: 04-15-24
The author does get a bit heavy with the politics, but at least it somewhat makes sense from the perspective of the main characters. He plays super heavily with bad stereotypes for all the characters he wants you to hate. Essentially feels like he is saying all people with politics contrary to his are evil people.

Overly Political
Revisado: 04-15-24
The author gets rather heavy handed and in your face with his political views so it feels like you are just being preached at instead of being able to enjoy a good story.

Historia
Ensign Andrew Dahl has just been assigned to the Universal Union Capital Ship Intrepid, flagship of the Universal Union since the year 2456. Life couldn’t be better…until Andrew begins to pick up on the facts that (1) every Away Mission involves some kind of lethal confrontation with alien forces; (2) the ship’s captain, its chief science officer, and the handsome Lieutenant Kerensky always survive these confrontations; and (3) at least one low-ranked crew member is, sadly, always killed.

It felt like half the book was that. Combine that with how every character sounds exactly the same. Beyond frustrating to have to listen to.

Good story, but needs subtitles.
Revisado: 12-16-23
There were quite a few times where I found it hard to understand what was being said. I repeated some sentences many times and still couldn't tell what word was being said. When subtitles become desired in an audiobook, you know something has gone wrong.

It is the morning of the reaping that will kick off the 10th annual Hunger Games. In the Capitol, 18-year-old Coriolanus Snow is preparing for his one shot at glory as a mentor in the Games. The once-mighty house of Snow has fallen on hard times, its fate hanging on the slender chance that Coriolanus will be able to out charm, outwit, and outmaneuver his fellow students to mentor the winning tribute. The odds are against him. He’s been given the humiliating assignment of mentoring the female tribute from District 12, the lowest of the low.

Mediocre story, but the performance is lacking.
Revisado: 05-11-23
Thus story contains lots of songs/singing, with even some well known tunes. Having the performance be rather flat, like a bad spoken word poetry session, is a great disservice and makes the book rather grating to listen to.
The rest of the story was merely ok. Nothing like the griping story of the Hunger Games trilogy.

Historia
Kiernan Dunne abandoned his family ties to help Kate fight the Cyrists, and he's never regretted that for one moment. But he doesn't understand why Kate can't remember that night in 1893 Chicago, when she turned back to face the killer chasing them through the smoky corridors of the World's Fair Hotel. Kate placed the CHRONOS key around his neck and made his eight-year-old self promise to wear it always, and that's a promise Kiernan has never broken.

Historia
Alice Price-Healy gave up her life for 50 years to focus completely on the search for her missing husband. The danger of focus like that is that it leaves little room for thinking about what happens after...and now that she’s finally managed to find Thomas, she has no idea what she’s supposed to do next. The fact that he comes with a surrogate daughter who may or may not have some connection to Alice’s recently adopted grandson is just icing on the complicated cake.

Wide and smooth, the Road was seared into planet Destiny’s rocky surface by the fusion drive of the powered landing craft, Cavorite. The Cavorite deserted the original interstellar colonists, stranding them without hope of contacting Earth. For Jemmy Bloocher, a young farm boy, the questions burn too hot - and he sets out to uncover the many mysteries of Destiny’s Road.

The book felt a bit disjointed at times. Not adequately describing what is going on.
I also sometimes had trouble tracking who was who and who was speaking since the narrator gives little variation.

Historia
The human race is all but extinct after a war with Partials - engineered organic beings identical to humans - has decimated the population. Reduced to only tens of thousands by RM, a weaponized virus to which only a fraction of humanity is immune, the survivors in North America have huddled together on Long Island while the Partials have mysteriously retreated. The threat of the Partials is still imminent, but, worse, no baby has been born immune to RM in more than a decade. Our time is running out.

People in this universe are woefully inept.
Revisado: 02-10-23
The story feels shallow. The logic is sloppy and feels middle school level. It just doesn't make sense that an Intern/novice is the only person smart enough to actually think about a few basic strategies for finding a cure to a virus. The ideas are so painfully obvious it wouldn't have taken over a decade for someone to try.
