Historia
Lacey Terwilliger's shock and humiliation over her husband's philandering prompt her to add some bonus material to Mike's company newsletter: stunning Technicolor descriptions of the special brand of "administrative support" his receptionist gives him. The detailed mass e-mail to Mike's family, friends, and clients blows up in her face, and before one can say "instant urban legend", Lacey has become the pariah of her small Kentucky town and a media punch line....

Classic Molly Harper
Revisado: 04-13-25
Early Molly Harper, so not as much funny snark as we’re used to these days, but still a great read. I’m sorry I waited so long to listen. Also, early Amanda Ronconi, so a bit more nasally than the more recent books, but definitely listenable.

Totally different—totally Molly
Revisado: 03-29-25
As others have noted, this story is totally different from her Half-Moon Hollow and other supernatural stories…but just as fun. I am NOT a fan of witch stories in general but gave this a try because it was Molly Harper. And, of course, I’m glad I did. Same wonderful snarky dialogue, great characters you can’t help but like, and fun and interesting story. Another win.

St Louis boy makes it big
Revisado: 10-22-24
Very interesting story and great that it’s read by MM himself. My husband is a huge Doobie Bros fan for 50 years but he wasn’t overly interested in hearing this book—yet he commented that it was way more interesting than he expected and well worth the listen. What really comes through is 1. how long it took to become famous and how much work it takes—but that work leads to serendipitous meetings that lead to opportunities. And 2. How much of the “rock-n-roll” lifestyle he lived, especially the drugs and drinking. 3. what a down-to-earth guy MM is. If you don’t know how famous the bands he played in are, you won’t exactly figure it out from this book. // definitely recommend.

Revisado: 09-21-24
Give these stories a chance— the first two hours of the first book are very YA. Just deal with them and press on …the rest of the series (so far) is worth it. The tale gets better and better and you become very invested in the characters. Definitely recommend.

Another fun episode
Revisado: 06-26-24
All our favorite characters are back in this shorter story that seems to have been written to hold us over until the next full novel comes out. Not as much drama as in the three previous books but several hints that a vampire issue in America (possibly tied to the earlier mess in Paris) will need to be resolved. That said, I much enjoyed this short book for the story, the wonderful characters, and the excellent writing…all
hallmarks of this series.

Excellent series!
Revisado: 05-02-24
I’ve listened to all six Thomas Silkstone titles. First, Simon Vance is a great narrator. Easy to tell one character from another and his women’s voices are very good—not those forced high-pitched and aggravating noises you get with some narrators. Second, the best historical novels really teach you a lot about a time period without “teaching” you…you just absorb the information while becoming absorbed in the story. All of the Silkstone novels work this way. And while I occasionally wanted to cosh Lydia on the head for being so weak, she pulls it off in the end and gives our hero his HEA, even if it takes 6 volumes to get there. Definitely recommend.

Well done!
Revisado: 03-13-24
Well written, not contrived, and with likable characters. Doesn’t have a stupid/clueless H or h who clings to ridiculous “values” in order to stretch out the story. Kept me interested the entire time and even though narrator isn’t my favorite with female voices, he did OK with this book. Also, as a combat vet w PTSD, I thought the author captured that portion pretty well.

Extremely interesting. Some I do you’ll know, some you’ll know without even realizing it, and some will be fascinating new stuff. Well worth the listen. Yes, there are some anti-conservative hints in the book and one place where he does completely stumble (dependent variables and death rates in some demographic groups— leaves out/ minimizes the part about those getting shot by or encountering the police generally are not randomly roaming the street…) but aside from these few areas, we thought the east of the book very entertaining.

For most of the last hundred years, Biloxi was known for its beaches, resorts, and seafood industry. But it had a darker side. It was also notorious for corruption and vice, everything from gambling, prostitution, bootleg liquor, and drugs to contract killings. The vice was controlled by small cabal of mobsters, many of them rumored to be members of the Dixie Mafia.

Historia
Air Force navigators and bombardiers have long labored under the shadow of pilots - their contributions undervalued, misunderstood, or unknown to the general public. This was especially the case with the non-pilot officer aircrew in the Vietnam and Cold War-era B-52 Stratofortress. Of the six people who operated the bomber, three wore navigator wings - two of those men were also bombardiers, the other an electronic warfare officer. Without the navigator-bombardiers in particular, executing the nuclear war strike plan or flying Southeast Asian bombing sorties would have been impossible.

Super story
Revisado: 02-07-23
Well done. Great look at navigators and radar navigators. Might have touched on how B-52 tactics changed as the airframe had new capabilities added but overall a great listen. (with one caveat— as with some other military books, get your pronunciations correct! it’s “sack! (SAC) not “ess-ay-see” and “”ee-woah (EWO)” and several others.)
