Historia
A groundbreaking account of how Britain became the base of operations for the exiled leaders of Europe in their desperate struggle to reclaim their continent from Hitler, from the New York Times best-selling author of Citizens of London and Those Angry Days.

Very enlightening and timely.

I've read a number of accounts of WWII; but Last Hope Island ties them together, and, for me, connects them to the present.

Historia
Bono met his wife in high school, Park says. So did Jerry Lee Lewis, Eleanor answers. I’m not kidding, he says. You should be, she says, we’re 16. What about Romeo and Juliet? Shallow, confused, then dead. I love you, Park says. Wherefore art thou, Eleanor answers. I’m not kidding, he says. You should be. Set over the course of one school year in 1986, this is the story of two star-crossed misfits - smart enough to know that first love almost never lasts, but brave and desperate enough to try. When Eleanor meets Park, you’ll remember your own first love.

I can't remember reading a more beautiful story.

I can't remember reading a more beautiful story. Eleanor and Park reminded me of both the high school experience I had and the one I dreamed of having.

Loved it.
Revisado: 03-23-17
The story and narration made me feel I was there, and I frequently laughed out loud. The story offered a curious new way to think about southern Colonial America and the start of the American Revolution.

Historia
The year is 1772, and the rift between Britain and its American colonies has put a frightening word into the minds of all concerned: revolution. In the backwoods of North Carolina, violence has already reared its ugly head, as cabins have been burned to the ground. To preserve the colony for King George III, the governor pleads with Jamie to bring the people together and restore peace. But Jamie has the privilege, although some might call it a burden, of knowing that war cannot be avoided.
