Connie McColl is finally free to make her own decisions for the first time in decades. And when she meets glamorous Gill and downtrodden Maggie, at a rather dull flower arranging class, it seems that she’s not the only one dreaming of adventure. Historia
In my book, you will meet a little girl named Viola who ran from her past until she made a life-changing decision to stop running forever. This is my story, from a crumbling apartment in Central Falls, Rhode Island, to the stage in New York City, and beyond. This is the path I took to finding my purpose but also my voice in a world that didn’t always see me.

Stunning autobiography!
Revisado: 07-02-22
This story lifted me up! What a gift it was to read about one of favorite actors and learn how it all began from such impoverished yet loving beginnings.
As I clung to every episode of HTGAWM and her other heartfelt performances, I suspected that Ms. Davis was drawing from a painful past but I never imagined the extremes until I listened to this book. Wow!
Thank you Viola Davis for sharing so intimately and honestly about your incredible healing journey.
As a trauma survivor myself, your story reminded me of how far I've come in my journey and gives me even more hope for the future, especially because we are the same age!
Also, thank you to your team that supported you through this so we could all savor this story.

I didn't want to end...
Revisado: 07-02-22
This book is a treasure! What a beautiful, honest, funny and optimistic read! Molly Shannon shares such intimate and honest details about her early life, her impressive career, profound love/loss, and motherhood.
At times, her narration had me crying tears of laughter and also heart break because her words resonated so deeply with parts of my own life.
I clung to every word she shared and literally cried after the acknowledgments because of her heartfelt sincerity.
Thank you, Molly and your team for creating such a beautiful autobiography for us to savor.

Historia
It’s easy to be yourself when who and what you are is in vogue. But growing up Black and gay in America has never been easy. Before Billy Porter was slaying red carpets and giving an iconic performance in the celebrated TV show Pose; before he was the Tony Award-winning star of Broadway’s Kinky Boots; and before he was an acclaimed recording artist, actor, playwright, and all-around diva, Porter was a young boy who didn’t fit in.

Historia
Rose and Lily Winters are twins, as close as the bond implies; they feel each other’s emotions, taste what the other is feeling. Like most young women, they’ve struggled with their bodies and food since childhood, and high school finds them turning to food - or not - to battle the waves of insecurity and the yearning for popularity. But their connection can be as destructive as it is supportive, a yin to yang. When Rose stops eating, Lily starts - consuming everything Rose won’t or can’t.

Finally a book about the true dangers of dieting!
Revisado: 01-17-21
I think the author did a great job with this book because she covered the extremes of an eating disorders and treatment centers, but she also talked about disordered eating and how we've normalized it in our society which is not okay.
She even mentions orthorexia which most think is "clean eating" but it's way more extreme than that.
Diet culture is to blame for all of this and more books like this are needed so the general population can understand that it all starts with a diet and/or restriction of some kind.
