Amazes me.

I have read The Air Awaken series, followed by the Golden Guard series, and then this series, Vortex Chronicles, you should go in that order. It amazes me how all of these books are just one intertwined story so layered and developed in this universe, Any answers you don't get in one series you get in the Vortex Chronicles. Author Elise Kova is truly talented. I did feel a bit annoyed by the young character taking a long time to connect the dots on where to look for who she's trying to find (no spoilers), but throughout the series I couldn't stop imagining this as a movie series. I hope she gets a movie deal because it's well developed and fast paced. I recently purchased all the authors published audiobooks so while I'm sad this story is over, I am thrilled to start my next story by Elise Kova.

I first listened to Air Awaken series by this author, then The Golden Guard. Both the same universe. While GG is based on events that happen prior to AA, I recommend listening in that order. AA then GG. I Have 2 other series of hers next in my library. I can't wait to devour.

Fast pace, easy to follow. I like the switch up of narrator and perspectives. You basically get to know more of the supporting characters from AA in this series. I do feel like the writing assumes you've read AA to know Jacks debtes to the crown in this series. I don't recall they went into detail why and only tiptoed around it, his crimes are revealed in AA but not in depth in this GG series.

Only one negative. The last book of this series, I'll call this character "the selfish one," really didn't deserve his outcome at the end. I don't want to spoil anything so I leave it there for you to find out what I mean. if you know, you know!

Love this book

It's very PG with romance let's get that straight. Its a love story who's main job is save the world. And it's a young love story at that. Initially I was thrown off by the culture at the beginning of the book, Forced marriage and yet the one person protecting her from it she felt betrayed her for it. However when you continue to listen you realize it should have been known of her destiny, no matter how messed up it was, part of herself was hidden from her. Great story over all. I'd like to see this as like a mini Netflix series. I can see it as a dark realm style series even tho it's a novel.

A world that was a joy to discover!

Do have a listen! Author Elise Kova is amazing and the narrator choice never disappoint. I've listened to this series Air Awaken, followed by the Golden Guard series and just completed Vortex Chronicles. I recommend you go in that order. it's a very developed universe that is fast paced. The answers you don't get in one series you will get in the other. I am looking forward to listening to all Elise Kova audio books. I am sad to be finished with the series (once you finished Vortex Chronicles).

It's a good stand alone series. It's not just about young love but about young people becoming their destiny.

definitely relistening

Great experience from the start. I repeated the affirmations aloud and noticed it genuinely affected my mood that had been so down for some time. There aren't that many chapters, 3 of which I plan to skip during relistening because two are just elevator music and the last chapter wasn't the same as the affirmations in the beginning. The last chapter seems to be for relaxing into sleep.

More of this knowledge needs to be out there. I find myself wishing to quote this book but I will have to relisten til I can. I do have the habit of memorizing good books, and this one I find beneficial to know because of the subject. Its basically facts of life about our culture, our cities, our civilization, our medical care and safety is all designed and is built entirely with the male perspective in mind and exclusion of women because men hold the standard.

I stopped around chapter 7

I listen to alot of audibles about this stuff and this I just didn't dig. The hint of victim blaming tbh. She knows her stuff though. Telling someone that you chose to be in an abusive relationship is very clinical and not at all inclusive to the emotions that influence us. It is very important to get through to survivors that we can learn from our past and make more concious choices with who you allow into your life and how to enforce boundaries and know when a behavior is not fixable and likely any red flag theres reason to step back.

Tells you to create enemies

I don't take advise that promotes making enemies and they through out the book say if you don't have enemies, make friends your enemies. I'd rather no friends then, thanks. only good from this book is for those who don't think assh*les like this exist. I did like what the author had to say in a few of his interviews but had no idea he promoted this!

Raised by a narc mother and a deaf semi absent father, I developed my dads listening skills and my moms validating skill. I am very sensitive and feel disconnected from social settings. I'm reading a list of his books to help me better myself. it does bring comfort to me listening because it's giving great examples I had never known I needed to work on. How can one work on something if they don't know. Great material.
