I've always been a fan of Joan Collins and thoroughly enjoyed reading some of her other memoirs. I thought hearing her read this latest one herself would be a treat - and it was at first. The book starts with an assortment of stories from her career, including some delicious gossip. But about halfway through it felt like she was just throwing in whatever she could as filler. An entire chapter was devoted to the decor and toasts from her wedding to her current husband, as well as multiple appearances by him talking about how fabulous she was. After the next chapter went into details about various issues with her luxury apartments, I just couldn't listen anymore. I think she's mined her life for books multiple times and this was just the leftover material - do yourself a favor and stick to the earlier ones!

I'm stunned that this whole series is free to members (part of the Plus catalogue) - absolutely engaging, and great company for long commutes. I've always loved Trollope novels, and the narrator does a wonderful job of making the characters come alive as well as making the author a character as well. I stumbled upon his version of "Can You Forgive Her?" (worth starting with so you understand the cast of characters) and was delighted to find he'd narrated the whole set of Palliser novels.
The only minor quibble (not of the narrator but of the book) is that there is a lot of esoteric information about English politics - some of it is fascinating trivia but Trollope goes on a bit too much for my taste - but the narrator is so sprightly and charming that I really didn't mind!
This series has more than made my Audible membership a great bargain - thank you!!

Moriarty creates fascinating characters and this book was no exception. They’re both relatable and yet different because of the Australian setting. So it was especially fun to hear the Aussie narrator, who totally inhabited the characters. Made my commute fly by to the point that I was disappointed when traffic was lighter than usual

Entertaining but not really about Anne

I bought this because I've always loved Anne Meara and thought it would be about her, as well as about their marriage. Instead, the story is all about Jerry, with Anne as a secondary character, and only discussed in relation to him and to their act. And the story sometimes comes across as self-indulgent, even a bit boring. However, Jerry's narration is completely engaging, his voice is hilarious, and he does tell some funny stories, which I appreciated. So if you are looking for a Jerry Stiller memoir you will probably enjoy this a lot - but if you were hoping for a loving tribute to Anne Meara, you might be as disappointed as I was by what sure seems like a misleading title.
